Mariners lead new Top 100 Prospects list with 7 -- all position players
The Mariners have been known for their robust pitching development, including current big league rotation members Logan Gilbert, George Kirby and Bryce Miller.
In a fun twist, when MLB Pipeline dropped its newest Top 100 prospects re-rank on Friday, the Mariners landed seven prospects on the list, none of whom are pitchers. Until 2024, Seattle had at least one pitcher on Pipeline¡¯s Top 100 list in every update since '18. The Mariners are tied with the Cubs for the most prospects in this year's Top 100.

The Mariners¡¯ group is highlighted by a trio of high school first-rounders from 2021-23, with catcher Harry Ford (No. 65), infielder Cole Young (No. 49) and infielder Colt Emerson (No. 20).
The other four Top 100 prospects are:
- No. 42: OF Lazaro Montes
- No. 74: SS Felnin Celesten
- No. 96: OF Jonny Farmelo
- No. 98: SS Michael Arroyo
Farmelo and Arroyo are both new additions to the Top 100, with the other five prospects holding over from the last midseason re-rank.
Emerson, the Mariners¡¯ 2023 first-rounder, dominated at Single-A Modesto this past season, slashing .293/.440/.427 in 40 games before earning a callup to High-A Everett. With an ETA of 2026, Emerson has a chance to settle in defensively at either shortstop, second base or third base, where he played for Team USA's 18-U squad heading into his senior season.
Young, the club¡¯s 2022 first-rounder, has raked at every level he's played in the Minors, reaching Double-A Arkansas in '24 and hitting .271 with a .759 OPS. He¡¯s shown a consistent ability to drive the ball to all fields, and while he hit just nine home runs in '24, there¡¯s a thought that his power will only increase in the coming years. He¡¯ll likely be in Seattle sooner rather than later.
Ford, the first of this trio of high school draftees as the 2021 first-rounder, is an elite catcher both behind and at the plate and has been praised for his leadership abilities. He slashed .249/.377/.367 at Double-A in '24 as he still learns to tap into his power, but his athleticism is his biggest asset moving forward.
The four other prospects landing on the Top 100 list are most likely to help the big league club in 2026 and beyond. Of those four, three of them -- Montes, Celesten and Arroyo -- were heralded signings over the last few international periods. None of them have played above A-ball yet, but it's clear how deep this farm is.
Farmelo was the Mariners¡¯ 29th overall pick in the 2023 MLB Draft, the slot that was awarded to the club as a result of Julio Rodr¨ªguez's Rookie of the Year win the previous season. Farmelo tore his ACL this past June, halting his professional debut with a .264/.398/.421 slash line across 46 games. His hitting profile is still raw at just 20 years old, but he plays above-average outfield defense and could grow into his ceiling.
