A team-by-team breakdown of the Top 100 Players Right Now

February 14th, 2025

MLB Network's Top 100 Players Right Now rankings for 2025 have been revealed, with the top 10 being announced on Thursday night. Which teams are most well-represented on the list? Who are some candidates to crack the Top 100 next year?

Here's a team-by-team look at the Top 100:

Dodgers (9): Shohei Ohtani (1), Mookie Betts (5), Freddie Freeman (8), Blake Snell (36), Teoscar Hern¨¢ndez (52), Will Smith (60), Yoshinobu Yamamoto (63), Tyler Glasnow (71), Roki Sasaki (100)

It¡¯s no surprise the Dodgers lead the Majors in Top 100 players, particularly after their incredible offseason -- the defending World Series champions signed a two-time Cy Young Award winner, a highly coveted Japanese pitching phenom, a two-time All-Star slugger who had a career year with Los Angeles last season and a pair of All-Star relievers, just to name some.

Ohtani, after becoming the first player in MLB history to hit 50 homers and steal 50 bases in the same season, will return to his two-way role in 2025, and he¡¯s predictably the No. 1 player in the game right now. Betts remains one of the best all-around players in the game as he moves to shortstop to start the ¡¯25 campaign. Freeman, a World Series hero last fall, remains one of the elite hitters in baseball.

Sasaki joins Ohtani and Yamamoto as a Japanese trifecta that could stymie hitters for many years to come. Snell, with two Cy Young Awards to his name, joins that trio in a rotation that also includes Glasnow, an All-Star right-hander with some of the best stuff among Major League hurlers. Smith, an All-Star in each of the past two years, will catch that star-studded group.

Braves (7): Ronald Acu?a Jr. (16), Chris Sale (20), Austin Riley (33), Matt Olson (34), Marcell Ozuna (47), Michael Harris II (67), Jurickson Profar (84)

Atlanta is hoping to have Acu?a back in the lineup by the beginning of the regular season after he missed most of last season with a torn left ACL. One of the great power-speed threats in the game, the 27-year-old outfielder inaugurated the 40-homer/70-steal club in ¡¯23, though it's unclear how much he'll run on the basepaths after two knee surgeries.

Following a trade to Atlanta prior to last season, Sale enjoyed a resurgent campaign, winning the NL Cy Young Award and Comeback Player of the Year Award. Riley had a down year by his standards in 2024, but he was limited by injury to 110 games -- if he¡¯s healthy, there¡¯s no reason not to think he hits 30+ homers with an OPS near .900. Olson also underperformed last year, seeing his OPS drop by more than 200 points. Still, he¡¯s one of the most feared left-handed sluggers in the Majors.

Ozuna earned his third All-Star selection last year, slugging 39 homers while posting a .924 OPS to finish fourth in NL MVP voting. Harris continues to be a tremendous defensive center fielder, though his offensive production has declined since his 2022 Rookie of the Year campaign. And Profar looks to prove that his breakout ¡¯24 performance was no fluke after joining the Braves as a free agent.

Cubs (6): Kyle Tucker (14), Shota Imanaga (64), Seiya Suzuki (73), Justin Steele (88), Ian Happ (92), Dansby Swanson (93)

Tucker, whom the Cubs acquired in a trade with the Astros this past offseason, instantly becomes the highest-ranked Cubs player on the list, and for good reason. The three-time All-Star and 2022 Gold Glove Award winner in right field was hurt for much of last season, but when he was in the lineup, he was prolific, posting a .993 OPS with 23 home runs in 78 games for Houston. Still only 28 years old, he could be a huge difference-maker on the North Side of Chicago.

Imanaga turned in a tremendous rookie campaign in 2024, pitching to a 2.91 ERA in 29 starts with an NL-best 6.2 strikeout-to-walk ratio. He was named an All-Star and finished fifth in NL Cy Young Award voting. His countryman, Suzuki, put together the best season of his MLB career last year, belting 21 homers with an .848 OPS in 132 games.

Steele has quietly become one of the best left-handed starters in baseball -- over the past two seasons, he had a 3.07 ERA over 54 appearances. Happ, meanwhile, continues to be strong at the plate and in the field, winning his third consecutive Gold Glove Award in left field while posting a .782 OPS with 25 homers. Swanson¡¯s offensive production has been declining, but he remains one of the elite defensive shortstops in the Majors.

Padres (6): Fernando Tatis Jr. (22), Jackson Merrill (24), Manny Machado (29), Dylan Cease (55), Michael King (69), Luis Arraez (83)

Although he was limited to 102 games by injury last season, Tatis turned in his best offensive performance since being suspended for violation of MLB¡¯s Joint Drug Prevention and Treatment Program and missing the entire 2022 campaign -- he posted an .832 OPS with 21 homers.

Merrill burst onto the Major League scene in a big way, hitting .292/.326/.500 with 24 home runs and 16 steals for San Diego, coming through with clutch homer after clutch homer down the stretch. Machado slumped early in the ¡¯24 campaign, but from May 19 through the end of the season he hit .297/.345/.525 with 24 homers. Arraez, meanwhile, won his third consecutive batting title, also becoming the first player in MLB history to win a batting title with three different teams.

Cease and King, each of whom has been the subject of trade rumors recently, turned in fantastic performances for San Diego last year. Cease had a bounce-back season that included a no-hitter against the Nationals. In his first season as a full-time starter and his first with the Padres, King posted a 2.95 ERA and finished seventh in NL Cy Young voting.

Yankees (6): Aaron Judge (2), Gerrit Cole (26), Max Fried (44), Cody Bellinger (72), Devin Williams (77), Paul Goldschmidt (96)

Judge, who won his second AL MVP Award last year, somehow produced a better overall season at the plate than he did when he set an AL record with 62 homers in 2022. Cole¡¯s season debut was delayed by an elbow injury, and over 17 starts, he pitched to a 3.41 ERA on the heels of a Cy Young Award-winning ¡¯23 campaign.

One of the Yanks¡¯ big moves this past offseason was the acquisition of Fried, a frontline starter who will complement Cole and Co. in the rotation. Bellinger, Williams and Goldschmidt were also added to bolster the roster. The Yankees hope that Bellinger and Goldschmidt can turn back the clock and regain their swings from a couple of years ago -- Bellinger was the NL Comeback Player of the Year with the Cubs in 2023, and Goldschmidt was the ¡¯22 NL MVP with the Cards. In Williams, New York brought aboard one of the best closers in the game via a trade with Milwaukee.

Astros (5): Yordan Alvarez (7), Jose Altuve (30), Framber Valdez (45), Christian Walker (48), Isaac Paredes (85)

Alvarez finally had a relatively healthy season in 2024, and he continued to show why he¡¯s one of the game¡¯s greatest sluggers, producing a .308/.392/.567 slash line with 35 homers in 147 games. As he enters his age-35 campaign, Altuve is still one of the top second basemen in baseball -- the nine-time All-Star hit 20 homers and stole 22 bases with a .789 OPS last year.

Two offseason acquisitions who aim to help Alvarez and Altuve in Houston¡¯s lineup are Walker and Paredes. Walker brings 95 homers and three Gold Glove Awards at first base over his past three seasons, and Paredes appears to have a swing well-suited to Daikin Park.

On the pitching side, Valdez is as dependable as they come. From 2022-24, he made 90 starts, over which he posted a 3.06 ERA.

Mariners (5): Julio Rodr¨ªguez (23), Logan Gilbert (51), Cal Raleigh (59), George Kirby (75), Bryce Miller (87)

Rodr¨ªguez probably didn¡¯t have the type of season he wanted in 2024, but that¡¯s because he set the bar so high for himself over his first two seasons in the Majors. Still, he hit at least 20 homers and stole at least 20 bases for the third straight year. Raleigh set career highs with 34 home runs and 100 RBIs for Seattle last season, also winning his first career Gold Glove Award behind the plate.

Gilbert, Kirby and Miller form a young core that, along with veteran Luis Castillo, gives the Mariners one of the best rotations in MLB -- those four, as well as Bryan Woo, each finished last season with an ERA below 3.65.

Mets (5): Juan Soto (4), Francisco Lindor (6), Pete Alonso (49), Mark Vientos (81), Brandon Nimmo (91)

This past offseason¡¯s greatest prize, Soto, inked a record 15-year, $765 million contract to move from the Bronx to Queens, and he¡¯s the No. 4 player in the game right now. An elite among the elite hitters, Soto belted a career-high 41 homers with a .988 OPS last year in his lone season with the Yankees.

Lindor finished second in NL MVP voting in 2024, thanks to a huge season in which he helped the Mets make a run to the NL Championship Series. He belted 33 homers with an .844 OPS, delivering clutch hit after clutch hit down the stretch. Alonso remains with the only team he¡¯s ever known after signing a two-year, $54 million contract to return to the Mets. The Polar Bear smashed 34 homers last year and will serve as protection for Soto.

Vientos had a breakout season last year, connecting for 27 home runs with an .838 OPS. He is seen as a big part of the Mets¡¯ future. Nimmo had a down year at the plate in 2024, finishing with a .726 OPS, but he remains one of the best all-around outfielders in baseball.

Phillies (5): Bryce Harper (12), Zack Wheeler (19), Trea Turner (35), Kyle Schwarber (65), J.T. Realmuto (80)

Harper, Turner, Schwarber and Realmuto make the heart of Philadelphia¡¯s batting order one of the most formidable opposing pitchers will see. Harper put up typical Harper numbers last year, smashing 30 homers with an .898 OPS. Turner hit 21 homers and stole 19 bases with an .807 OPS. Schwarber belted 38 homers and led the NL with 106 walks.

Realmuto will look to turn things around both at and behind the plate in 2025 -- he posted his lowest OPS (.751) since 2015 last season, and he threw out a below-average 19.5% of runners attempting to steal.

Wheeler continues to be one of the very best starters in the Majors. In 2024, the 34-year-old right-hander finished runner-up in NL Cy Young Award voting for the second time in his career, posting a career-best 2.57 ERA over exactly 200 innings.

D-backs (4): Ketel Marte (18), Corbin Burnes (25), Corbin Carroll (32), Zac Gallen (76)

Marte, after being underrated for several years, is finally establishing himself as one of baseball¡¯s premier second basemen. He finished third in NL MVP voting last year after hitting a career-high 36 home runs with a .932 OPS for Arizona. Carroll got off to a rough start in 2024, but the 2023 NL Rookie of the Year finished with 20 homers and an .871 OPS over his final 98 games.

Another Corbin -- Burnes -- joins Gallen atop the D-backs¡¯ formidable rotation after a season with the Orioles in which he had a 2.92 ERA and finished fifth in AL Cy Young balloting. Gallen made 28 starts for Arizona last season, posting a 3.65 ERA a year after finishing third in NL Cy Young voting.

Rangers (4): Corey Seager (17), Marcus Semien (62), Wyatt Langford (97), Jacob deGrom (99)

If we see a full season from Seager in 2025, we could really be in for some eye-popping numbers. The slugging shortstop has missed significant time due to injury the past two years, but still had a .939 OPS with 63 homers and 11.9 bWAR over that span. Semien, Seager¡¯s middle infield partner, has been one of the most durable players in MLB -- he¡¯s played in all but 14 of his team¡¯s games since 2018. He hopes to have a bounce-back year after producing a 100 OPS+ (100 is league average) with 23 homers in ¡¯24.

Langford looks to build upon a promising rookie year in which he hit 16 homers and stole 19 bases with a .740 OPS. And deGrom will hope for a healthy 2025 campaign after making only three starts last year as he returned from Tommy John surgery. The two-time Cy Young Award winner gave up just two runs over 10 2/3 innings in those outings, striking out 14 and walking only one.

Red Sox (4): Rafael Devers (21), Jarren Duran (27), Alex Bregman (37), Garrett Crochet (56)

Devers garnered his third All-Star selection and finished with an .870 OPS and 28 homers in 138 games for Boston last year. Duran had a breakout season, leading the Majors with 48 doubles and 14 triples, earning an All-Star selection and winning the All-Star Game MVP Award in Arlington along the way. He also sparkled defensively, finishing second among outfielders with 23 defensive runs saved.

Bregman, the newest member of the Red Sox after he reportedly agreed to a three-year, $120 million deal with Boston, hit 26 homers and won his first career Gold Glove Award in his final season with the Astros.

Crochet, whom the Red Sox acquired from the White Sox in an offseason trade, was one of the most dominant starters in baseball in 2024, his first year as a full-time starter. The left-hander struck out 35% of opposing batters and finished with a 3.58 ERA in an All-Star campaign.

Royals (4): Bobby Witt Jr. (3), Cole Ragans (43), Seth Lugo (74), Salvador Perez (79)

In three short years, Witt has ascended to the position of No. 3 player in the game right now. The accolade is well-deserved -- the 24-year-old shortstop continued to demonstrate his incredible all-around ability by belting 32 homers, stealing 31 bases and leading the Majors with a .332 batting average and 211 hits, all the while playing Gold Glove-caliber defense in 2024.

Ragans and Lugo are at the heart of a starting rotation that surprised many in 2024, playing a big role in Kansas City¡¯s run to its first playoff appearance in a decade. Ragans had a breakout year, pitching to a 3.14 ERA and leading the AL with a 10.8 strikeouts-per-nine-innings ratio. Lugo, meanwhile, had a career year at age 34, posting a 3.00 ERA over 206 2/3 innings to finish second in AL Cy Young Award balloting.

Athletics (3): Brent Rooker (46), Mason Miller (78), Lawrence Butler (90)

Rooker found his way into the collective baseball consciousness in 2023, when he launched 30 homers for the Athletics in his age-28 campaign. He took it to another level last year, when he hit 39 homers with a .927 OPS to earn a five-year contract extension.

Miller and Lawrence each figure to be a major part of the Athletics¡¯ future after the youngsters each raised eyebrows last season. Miller, with a fastball that often reached 102 mph, was an All-Star and finished fourth in AL Rookie of the Year Award voting after posting a 2.49 ERA with 28 saves. Butler, meanwhile, had a breakout age-24 season, belting 22 home runs (six of which came in two three-homer games) and swiping 18 bags in 125 games.

Brewers (3): William Contreras (28), Jackson Chourio (40), Christian Yelich (61)

Contreras was a major reason Milwaukee was able to surprise the baseball world and run away with the NL Central crown in 2024, hitting 23 homers and driving in 192 runs in 155 games (120 behind the plate and 35 as a designated hitter). Chourio, a highly-touted prospect entering the season, got off to a slow start but then finished strong, hitting .305/.360/.527 with 16 homers and 15 steals from June 2 through the end of the season.

And Yelich, despite having his season cut short due to back surgery, had one of his best seasons since his 2019 MVP campaign, producing a .315/.406/.504 line with 11 home runs in 73 games.

Cardinals (3): Willson Contreras (86), Masyn Winn (94), Nolan Arenado (95)

Contreras, who will be moving from catcher to first base in 2025, was limited by forearm and hand injuries last season but still hit 15 homers with an .848 OPS. Winn, meanwhile, put together an impressive rookie campaign, playing a stellar shortstop while posting a .730 OPS with 15 homers at the plate. Arenado, the subject of trade rumors all offseason, is coming off his worst offensive performance in a full season since his 2013 rookie campaign, looking to bounce back at the plate while continuing to play sparkling defense at third.

Giants (3): Matt Chapman (38), Willy Adames (41), Logan Webb (50)

Chapman won his fifth Gold Glove Award at third base last year -- no surprise there. But he had a bounce-back performance at the plate after seeing his offensive production decline over the previous few seasons, launching 27 homers with a .791 OPS. Adames, San Francisco¡¯s big free-agent signing in the offseason, hit a career-high 32 homers and drove in a career-best 112 runs for the Brewers in 2024. And Webb turned in another great performance, leading the NL with 204 2/3 innings pitched, over which he had a 3.47 ERA (2.95 FIP).

Guardians (3): Jos¨¦ Ram¨ªrez (9), Emmanuel Clase (57), Steven Kwan (66)

The consistently excellent Ram¨ªrez came up one home run shy of becoming the second player in MLB history to have at least 40 doubles, 40 homers and 40 steals in the same season (also Alfonso Soriano in 2006). Speaking of consistent excellence, Clase led the league in saves for the third straight year (47) while posting a microscopic 0.61 ERA. And Kwan was named an All-Star for the first time and won his third Gold Glove Award in three Major League seasons in left field.

Tigers (3): Tarik Skubal (11), Riley Greene (54), Kerry Carpenter (89)

Skubal elevated himself into the conversation of best starting pitcher in the Majors with an AL Cy Young Award-winning season in 2024. The left-hander won the AL pitching triple crown by leading the league in wins (18), ERA (2.39) and strikeouts (228). Greene was an All-Star for the first time, posting an .827 OPS with 24 homers to go along with strong defense in the outfield. Carpenter had a career-best .932 OPS with 18 homers in just 87 games for Detroit, limited by a lumbar spine stress fracture.

Twins (3): Carlos Correa (42), Byron Buxton (68), Royce Lewis (82)

The three Twins on the Top 100 list underscore just how good Minnesota could be if its stars were able to stay healthy for a full season. Correa (86 games), Buxton (102) and Lewis (82) all missed significant time last season for the 82-80 club. They each remain stars, however -- Correa hit .310/.388/.517 with 14 homers, Buxton belted 18 homers with an .859 OPS, and Lewis regressed some but still had 16 homers in 82 games.

Blue Jays (2): Vladimir Guerrero Jr. (13), Anthony Santander (53)

Guerrero enjoyed a rebound season after an underwhelming performance at the plate in 2023. In fact, he had his best season since he finished second to Ohtani for the 2021 AL MVP Award. Guerrero hit .323/.396/.544 with 30 home runs, and his 166 OPS+ ranked sixth in MLB. He¡¯ll have some more help in the lineup this season thanks to the signing of Santander to a five-year contract on the heels of a huge season that featured a career-high 44 home runs.

Orioles (2): Gunnar Henderson (10), Adley Rutschman (58)

Henderson had a big first half last season, and for a time it looked as if he might be a strong contender for the AL MVP Award. He slowed down some after the All-Star break, but he still finished with an .893 OPS, 37 homers and 21 steals to place fourth in MVP balloting. Rutschman took a step back offensively, with his .709 OPS representing a 100-point decrease from 2023. Still, the 26-year-old is one of the best catchers in the game.

Reds (2): Elly De La Cruz (31), Hunter Greene (70)

De La Cruz has always been a thrilling player to watch, but he was more dynamic than ever in 2024, becoming the fifth player since 1900 to hit at least 20 home runs and steal at least 60 bases in the same season. On the mound, Greene made some history of his own by becoming the first Reds pitcher in 86 years to yield one run or fewer in six straight starts. Overall, the right-hander had a 2.75 ERA over 26 starts for Cincinnati.

Angels (1): Mike Trout (39)

He¡¯s not the player he used to be, but that player was the best in the world. Trout is still one of the best in the game, though injuries have taken a significant amount of time away from him the past few years. He hasn¡¯t played in more than 150 games since 2016, but when he has been in the lineup, he¡¯s continued to produce at a superstar level over that span with a 1.025 OPS and 210 home runs.

Nationals (1): James Wood (98)

Wood proved why he was the No. 1 prospect in Washington¡¯s system and the No. 3 prospect in baseball when he made his big league debut and proceeded to hit .264/.354/.427 with nine homers and 14 steals in 79 games.

Pirates (1): Paul Skenes (15)

Skenes somehow not only lived up to the hype surrounding his Major League arrival, he surpassed it. The flamethrowing right-hander used his triple-digit fastball and patented ¡°splinker¡± to overwhelm opposing hitters and win the NL Rookie of the Year Award. In 23 starts for Pittsburgh, he pitched to a 1.96 ERA and struck out a third of the batters he faced. He even became the first rookie in 29 years to start on the mound in the All-Star Game and finished third in NL Cy Young Award voting.

Marlins: none

With ace and 2022 NL Cy Young Award winner Sandy Alcantara healthy again, as well as the budding young right-hander Eury P¨¦rez and the emergence of middle infielder Xavier Edwards, Miami is poised to have multiple players on this list next year.

Rays: none

There are several intriguing candidates from Tampa Bay to make this list in 2026, particularly those who are hoping for a full season after injuries sidelined them in ¡¯24. That includes Brandon Lowe, Josh Lowe, Eloy Jim¨¦nez, Shane McClanahan and 21-year-old slugger Junior Caminero -- who gave us one of the great highlights of the winter when he delivered a walk-off homer to win the Dominican Winter League title for the Dominican Republic.

Rockies: none

The Rockies have some young talent that could very well find its way onto the Top 100 list in the near future. Shortstop Ezequiel Tovar and center fielder Brenton Doyle each won a Gold Glove Award last year. Outfielder Nolan Jones was slowed by a back injury, but he¡¯s looking to replicate his production from a big rookie season in 2023.

White Sox: none

If Luis Robert Jr. can stay healthy, he could definitely crack the list next year -- in the only season of his career in which he appeared in more than 100 games, he smashed 38 home runs and stole 20 bases (2023).
