Betts will miss both Tokyo Series games with illness
Mookie Betts will not be available for either of the Tokyo Series games this week as the Dodgers star continues to battle an illness, manager Dave Roberts said. The team is considering sending Betts home early.
Betts, who did not play in the Dodgers¡¯ two exhibition games over the weekend, experienced ¡°some fatigue¡± in a workout on Sunday, according to Roberts.

Betts, 32, last appeared in a Spring Training game on March 9.
¡°Optimism for Opening Day. I think that we¡¯re really trying to be mindful of not just Opening Day but not putting him in harm¡¯s way,¡± Roberts said.
Los Angeles will play two games against the Cubs on Tuesday and Wednesday as a part of the 2025 Tokyo Series. They¡¯ll return stateside for three exhibition games before resuming the regular-season schedule with their home opener on March 27 against the Tigers.
An eight-time All-Star, Betts is slated to be the Dodgers¡¯ full-time shortstop this season after splitting time between three positions last year. In his absence, veteran Miguel Rojas drew the start at shortstop in both exhibition games in Japan.
