O's hire Eve Rosenbaum for new role
BALTIMORE -- After a calendar year of organizational transformation, the Orioles have made another major hire. The club on Monday officially added Eve Rosenbaum to the newly created role of director of baseball development.
The hiring, first reported last week, makes Rosenbaum the highest-ranking female executive in the Orioles organization. She "will oversee the alignment of methods across baseball operations, while also enhancing coordination between the scouting, player development and analytics departments," according to the team.
A Harvard graduate and native of Bethesda, Md., Rosenbaum worked under current Orioles vice president of baseball operations and general manager Mike Elias in Houston when he was scouting director there. She is the third former Astros executive to join Elias in Baltimore, along with assistant general manager of analytics Sig Mejdal and director of pitching Chris Holt.
Rosenbaum had worked with the Astros since 2015, rising to manager of international scouting in August 2017. She left Houston¡¯s front office this month to pursue other opportunities.
MLB.com reported last week the possibility of the Orioles adding more director-level positions. The club also has brought in Matt Blood as director of player development and promoted Holt, Kevin Buck and Mike Snyder to director-level positions over the past few months. The Orioles also announced the hiring of 19 new Minor League instructors to their player development staff on Monday.
