Astros announce preliminary Spring Training roster
Astros invite 23 non-roster players to Major League camp
HOUSTON, TX - The Houston Astros have announced their preliminary Spring Training roster today, which includes 40 players on their 40-man roster and 23 non-roster invitees, for a total of 63 players. The full roster is attached to this release.
On the club's 40-man roster, the Astros roster seven former All-Stars in 2B Jose Altuve, OF Yordan Alvarez, LHP Josh Hader, RHP Lance McCullers Jr., IF Isaac Paredes, RHP Ryan Pressly and LHP Framber Valdez.
Among the Astros non-roster invitees are 13 pitchers, three catchers, five infielders and two outfielders. This group includes RHP Miguel Castro, C Joe Hudson, LHP Steven Okert, IF Zach Short and LHP Blake Weiman, who are all new to the organization in 2025.
Six of the Astros top 10 prospects, according to MLB.com, will also be at Major League Spring Training, including IF Cam Smith (#1), OF Jacob Melton (#2), IF Brice Matthews (#4), IF Zach Dezenzo (#6), RHP Miguel Ullola (#8) and RHP A.J. Blubaugh (#10).
The Astros will hold their first official Spring Training workout for pitchers and catchers at the CACTI Park of the Palm Beaches complex in West Palm Beach, FL, on Thursday, Feb. 13. The first official workout for the entire squad is scheduled for Tuesday, Feb. 18.
