HOUSTON, TX ¨C Emelda Douglas has joined the Houston Astros as the club¡¯s new Senior Vice President, Community Affairs and Executive Director, Astros Foundation. She brings over 25 years of experience in philanthropic leadership and community development.
In her role, Douglas is responsible for strategically advancing the Astros Foundation¡¯s important mission of giving back to our broader community. She oversees the Foundation¡¯s integrated approach to delivering meaningful impact, developing innovative programs that provide opportunities for youth, families, veterans, and others in need. Her responsibilities encompass managing key community-based partnerships, designing and implementing the Foundation¡¯s giving strategy, driving fundraising and sponsorship initiatives, and executing projects that strengthen stakeholder connections and showcase the Astros as a committed community organization.

Prior to joining the Astros, Douglas has had a successful career as a senior executive for several notable organizations: Served as Vice President, Community Development for Greater Houston Community Foundation; Senior Vice President at Baker Ripley; Executive Director of Susan G. Komen Houston; Chief Development Officer for Houston Defender, a leading Black media group. Additionally, since 2016, she has operated E. Douglas Strategies, LLC, a nonprofit management and fundraising consulting firm.
