MILWAUKEE - The Milwaukee Brewers have acquired right-handed pitcher Quinn Priester from the Boston Red Sox in exchange for outfielder Yophery Rodriguez, their 2025 Competitive Balance Round A selection and a player to be named. Priester will report to the Major League club. Additionally, left-handed pitcher Grant Wolfram was designated for assignment. The announcement was made by Senior Vice President and General Manager Matt Arnold.
An updated 40-man roster (40) can be found here.
Priester, 24, was originally selected by the Pittsburgh Pirates in the first round (18th overall) of the 2019 First-Year Player Draft out of Cary-Grove (IL) High School. He entered 2024 as the eighth-best prospect in the Pirates organization according to Baseball America before he was traded to Boston in exchange for infielder/outfielder Nick Yorke last July 29.
Priester, who was ranked by MLB Pipeline as the 60th-best prospect in all of baseball as recently as 2023, has pitched parts of two seasons in the Major Leagues with Pittsburgh (2023-24) and Boston (2024), appearing in 21 games (15 starts). Over his Minor League career (2019-25), he has gone 26-17 with a 3.61 ERA in 87 games (84 starts) while recording 428 strikeouts in 408.2 innings pitched.
Prior to today's trade, Priester had been pitching at Triple-A Worcester, where he made his season debut last Thursday at Jacksonville (L, 4ip, 6h, 2r, 2er, 0bb, 6k, 1wp, 87 pitches).
