Mets sign LHP Sean Manaea
FLUSHING, N.Y., December 27, 2024 ¨C The New York Mets today announced that the club has signed LHP Sean Manaea to a three-year contract.

I am excited to watch him continue to flourish over the next few years.¡±
Manaea, 32, went 12-6 with a 3.47 ERA (70 ER/181.2 IP), 63 walks and 184 strikeouts in 32 starts for the Mets last season. He recorded a career-high in innings (181.2), tied a career-high in wins (12) and starts (32), while his 184 strikeouts were the second-most in his career and were the ninth-most in the NL. The southpaw finished with the lowest full-season ERA of his career (3.47). Manaea was one of eight pitchers who made 32 or more starts and posted an ERA below 3.50. He held right-handed batters to a .190 average, tied for the fourth-lowest mark in the majors.
From July 1 until the end of the season, Manaea was first in the majors in innings (105.1), second in quality starts (12) as well as sixth in strikeouts (108) and WHIP (0.93). Manaea completed at least 7.0 innings in nine of his 32 starts last season, which was tied for the sixth-most in the National League.
During the Postseason, the Indiana native made four starts, going 2-1 with a 4.74 ERA (10 ER/19.0 IP), eight walks and 19 strikeouts. He earned wins in Game 3 of the NLDS against Philadelphia and Game 2 of the NLCS against Los Angeles.
Following the season, Manaea was named the winner of Ben Epstein/Dan Castellano ¡°Good Guy¡± award by the New York Chapter of the BBWAA. This award is given annually to the player who is friendly, outgoing, and cooperative with the media.
In nine major league seasons with the A¡¯s, Padres, Giants and Mets, Manaea has posted a 77-62 record with a 4.00 ERA (573 ER/1184.1 IP), 335 walks and 1,109 strikeouts. He was originally selected by the Kansas City Royals in the first round (34th overall selection) in the 2013 First-Year Player Draft.
