FLUSHING, N.Y., April 3, 2025 - The New York Mets will host their home opener at Citi Field Friday, April 4, at 3:10 p.m. vs. the Toronto Blue Jays. Citi Field parking lots will open at 12:10 p.m. and gates open at 1:10 p.m.
Due to the capacity-sized crowds all weekend, especially Opening Day, the Mets are encouraging fans to take mass transit to the games.
Ahead of the game, the Empire State Building will be lit blue and orange beginning at 7:30 p.m. on April 3 and will continue through the evening.
The annual Shea Floral Presentation, a tradition that dates back to the first Opening Day at Shea Stadium in 1964, will begin approximately 40 minutes before first pitch. Bill Shea was instrumental in bringing National League baseball to New York. Members of the Shea family will be on hand to present Mets Manager Carlos Mendoza with a good luck floral arrangement.
The Mets will wear a tribute uniform patch all season long to honor Mets Hall of Famer Ed Kranepool. Kranepool, who spent his entire 18-year Major League career with the Mets, passed away on September 8, 2024, at age 79. The patch will feature Kranepool¡¯s iconic number seven and will be worn on the sleeve of all Mets jerseys. Members of the Kranepool family, and Ed¡¯s former teammate and close friend Art Shamsky, will be recognized on field prior to the ceremonial first pitch.
In celebration of the 25th anniversary of the 2000 National League Championship team and the 10th anniversary of the 2015 National League Championship team, teammates John Franco & Al Leiter and Bartolo Col¨®n & Juan Lagares will participate in the ceremonial first pitch.
Lissa deGuzman of Broadway¡¯s Wicked will perform both ¡°O Canada¡± and the ¡°Star Spangled Banner.¡± The New York Police Department ceremonial unit will present the colors. In the middle of the seventh inning, FDNY firefighter Regina Wilson will sing ¡°God Bless America.¡±
To help kick-off the 2025 season at Citi Field, fans will have the opportunity to attend a block party presented by Ford on Friday at 12:10 p.m. outside the ballpark from the Jackie Robinson Rotunda to the Left Field Gate. Fans can enjoy pre-game entertainment, including a DJ, games and appearances from Mr. & Mrs. Met, and the Queens Crew presented by Cadillac. The Mets will host a block party presented by Ford prior to every Saturday home game beginning three hours before first pitch, including Saturday¡¯s April, 5 game vs. Toronto. Mets Hall of Famer Mookie Wilson will attend most block parties, including on April 4 and April 5. Fans can try recipes from Legacy Catering, a mobile catering business founded and operated by Wilson and his family.
The first two gate giveaways of the 2025 season will take place on Saturday, April 5 at 7:10 p.m. and Sunday, April 6 vs. Toronto at 1:40 p.m. The first 15,000 fans in attendance on Saturday will receive a Juan Soto Players Pin and the first 15,000 fans in attendance Sunday will receive a 2025 Schedule Picture Frame presented by Apple Bank.
Sunday, April 6, will be Kids Opening Day, with all kids in attendance having the opportunity to enjoy pre-game entertainment at Mets Plaza beginning at 11:10 a.m. Citi Field will introduce Family Sundays, which will feature a ticket offer for four starting at $50, with pre-game entertainment on Mets Plaza and family-focused activities throughout the ballpark.
The homestand concludes with a three-game series vs. the Miami Marlins from Monday, April 7 ¨C Wednesday, April 9. First pitch for Monday and Tuesday¡¯s game are at 7:10 pm., and first pitch for Wednesday¡¯s game is at 1:10 p.m. Every Tuesday at Citi Field is $5 Tuesdays and fans can enjoy the following select $5 menu items: 12 oz. Coors Light, 22 oz. Coca-Cola fountain sodas, 20 oz. Smartwater, Nathan¡¯s Famous hot dog (Kosher, gluten-free and veggie hot dogs are available), regular soft pretzel and popcorn box.
