Arlington, Texas ¡ª The Texas Rangers today announced the following transactions ahead of Tuesday night¡¯s game at Wrigley Field against the Chicago Cubs:
- 3B Josh Jung activated from the 10-day Injured List (neck spasms).
- RHP Caleb Boushley (#70, pronounced ¡®BAHZ-lee¡¯) contract selected from Round Rock (AAA).
- INF Ezequiel Duran optioned to Round Rock (AAA).
- RHP Gerson Garabito optioned to Round Rock (AAA).
- LHP Cody Bradford transferred to the 60-day Injured List (left elbow sprain).
Jung, 27, has missed the Rangers¡¯ last 9 games after he was removed in the 8th inning on March 28 vs. Boston with neck stiffness. The third baseman was sent to Frisco (AA) on an injury rehab assignment Saturday, starting the final 2 games of the RoughRiders¡¯ 3-game series vs. Corpus Christi and going 2-for-5 with 2 RBI and one walk in 6 plate appearances. He recorded a 2-run single on Saturday as Frisco¡¯s designated hitter and logged 6.0 innings at third base on Sunday.
In two games with Texas this season prior to the injury, Jung went 3-for-7 (.429) with one RBI against the Red Sox from March 27-28. Originally selected in the 1st round (8th overall) of the 2019 MLB Draft by the Rangers from Texas Tech University, the San Antonio, Tex. native sports a career .259/.302/.449/.751 (197-761) slash line with 35 home runs, three triples, and 34 doubles over 196 career games spanning parts of four Major League seasons with Texas.
Boushley has posted a 2.08 ERA (2 ER/8.2 IP) in 2 starts with Round Rock (AAA) this season, most recently throwing 5.0 scoreless innings on Thursday vs. Toledo. The 31-year-old is seeking his Texas debut after signing as a minor league free agent with the club on 11/15/24, this after spending the first 8 years of his professional career in the San Diego (2017-21), Milwaukee (2022-23), and Minnesota (2024) organizations. A 33rd round selection by the Padres in the 2017 MLB Draft from University of Wisconsin-La Crosse, Boushley has appeared in 3 MLB games with the Brewers (1 G, 2023) and Twins (2 G, 2024), owning a 4.26 ERA (3 ER/6.1 IP). The Hortonville, Wis. native had a 3.27 ERA (4 ER/11.0 IP) with 17 strikeouts (13.91 SO/9) in 8 Cactus League relief outings with the Rangers this spring.
Duran, 25, has appeared in 5 games for Texas in 2025, going 0-for-11 with 4 strikeouts and one RBI. The utilityman saw defensive action at third base (3 G/2 GS) and second base (1 G) while also making his first career pitching appearance on March 31 at Cincinnati (1.0 IP). In 4 MLB seasons, all with the Rangers from 2022-25, Duran has slashed .254/.298/.383/.681 (227-893) with 22 home runs, 3 triples, 43 doubles, and 92 RBI in 277 games.
Garabito, 29, registered a 9.00 ERA (8 ER/8.0 IP) in 3 relief appearances for Texas this year, including covering the final 3.1 innings of yesterday¡¯s defeat at Chicago-NL. The right-hander made his MLB debut with the Rangers in 2024 and has totaled a 0-2 record with a 5.77 ERA (22 ER/34.1 IP) in 21 MLB appearances/2 starts.
Bradford, 27, was placed on the 15-day Injured List on March 27 after missing the latter half of Spring Training camp with a left elbow sprain. The southpaw went 1-0 with a 2.00 ERA (2 ER/9.0 IP) in 3 Cactus League starts before the injury.
With today¡¯s transactions, the Rangers remain at the 40-man limit on the club¡¯s Major League roster, along with two players (Jon Gray, Josh Sborz) on the 60-day Injured List.
