Rays sign catcher Danny Jansen

The Tampa Bay Rays have signed catcher Danny Jansen to a contract for the 2025 season with a mutual option for the 2026 season.
Jansen, 29, hit .205/.309/.349 (57-for-278) with 13 doubles, nine home runs and 24 RBI in 92 games between the Toronto Blue Jays (62G) and Boston Red Sox (30G) in 2024.
He debuted with Toronto in 2018 and spent parts of his first seven major league seasons with the Blue Jays, batting .222 (314-for-1413) with 72 doubles, one triple, 71 home runs and 214 RBI. He was traded to the Red Sox on July 27 in exchange for RHP Gilberto Batista, INF Cutter Coffey and INF Eddinson Paulino.
Tampa Bay now has 40 players on its 40-man roster.
