BOSTON, MA¡ªThe Boston Red Sox today traded right-handed pitcher Quinn Priester to the Milwaukee Brewers, in exchange for minor league outfielder Yophery Rodriguez, a Competitive Balance Round A selection in the 2025 First-Year Player Draft, and a player to be named later or cash considerations.
The Red Sox¡¯ 40-man roster is now at 39.
Priester, 24, has made one start for Triple-A Worcester this season, allowing two runs in 4.0 innings on April 3 in Jacksonville. The right-hander has recorded a 6.23 ERA (69 ER/99.2 IP) in 21 career Major League games (15 starts) with the Pittsburgh Pirates (2023-24) and Red Sox (2024). Originally selected by the Pirates in the first round (No. 18 overall) in the 2019 First-Year Player Draft, the Illinois native was acquired by Boston in exchange for minor league infielder Nick Yorke on July 29, 2024.
Rodriguez, 19, is ranked as Milwaukee¡¯s No. 7 prospect by MLB.com. The left-handed hitter has played in three games this season for High-A Wisconsin, making three starts in center field and batting .417 (5-for-12) with three runs scored, one double, and one triple. Originally signed by Milwaukee as an international free agent on January 15, 2023, the Dominican Republic native has hit .254 (155-for-610) with 37 doubles, nine triples, 13 home runs, 96 runs scored, 96 RBI, and 19 stolen bases in 165 career minor league games.
