Yankees Announce Non-Roster Invitees to 2025 Spring Training
The New York Yankees announced today that they have invited 26 players to 2025 Major League spring training. The number of players currently scheduled to report to spring training is 65.
Of the non-roster invitees (NRIs), 12 were not in the Yankees organization in 2024 and signed minor league contracts with the Yankees for the 2025 season: RHP Colten Brewer, RHP Carlos Carrasco, OF Brennen Davis, RHP Geoff Hartlieb, RHP Cristian Hern¨¢ndez, RHP Erick Leal, LHP Brandon Leibrandt, OF Ismael Munguia, INF/OF Pablo Reyes, RHP Wilking Rodr¨ªguez, INF/OF Dominic Smith and INF/OF Andrew Velazquez.
Three NRIs ¨C RHP Sean Boyle, C Omar Mart¨ªnez and RHP Leonardo Pestana ¨C re-signed with the Yankees for 2025 after playing for the organization at some point during the 2024 season. Ten other players in the Yankees organization were also extended invitations to big league camp: INF Roderick Arias, OF Duke Ellis, C Rafael Flores, RHP Chase Hampton, OF Spencer Jones, INF George Lombard Jr., RHP Eric Reyzelman, INF T.J. Rumfield, RHP Cam Schlittler and RHP Kevin Stevens.
Additionally, C Alex Jackson has been invited to Major League spring training as a non-roster invitee after he was acquired by the Yankees in a trade with the Cincinnati Reds on December 20, 2024. Jackson had originally signed with the Reds as a minor league free agent on November 5, 2024.
The 26 NRIs consist of 13 pitchers (one left-hander, 12 right-handers), three catchers, four outfielders, three infielders and three infielder/outfielders. Eleven of these players have accrued Major League service time: Carrasco (13 years, 147 days), Smith (6 years, 34 days), Brewer (3 years, 63 days), Velazquez (3 years, 33 days), Jackson (2 years, 123 days), Reyes (2 years, 96 days), Hartlieb (1 year, 158 days), Rodr¨ªguez (1 year, 8 days), Leibrandt (126 days), Ellis (37 days) and Davis (17 days).

Arias, 20, has hit .232 (158-for-682) with 135R, 29 doubles, 12 triples, 22HR, 111RBI, 123BB and 64SB in 182 games over three minor league seasons in the Yankees organization (2022-24). The switch-hitter spent the entire 2024 season with Single-A Tampa, hitting .233 (110-for-473) with 78R, 21 doubles, 8 triples, 13HR, 74RBI, 68BB and 37SB in 124 games. He ranked among Yankees minor leaguers in triples (first), runs scored (first), stolen bases (second), RBI (second), walks (third), total bases (186, fourth), hits (fifth) and extra-base hits (42, tied for sixth). Arias also led the Florida State League in hits, triples, runs scored and total bases, and was tied for the lead in extra-base hits. Following the season, he was ranked by Baseball America as the No. 3 prospect in the Yankees organization and labeled by the publication as having the ¡°Best Infield Arm¡± among Yankees farmhands. Arias was also the top-ranked prospect by MLB Pipeline and the No. 2 prospect by Baseball America from the 2021 international signing period. The Santo Domingo, D.R., native was signed by the Yankees as a non-drafted free agent on January 15, 2022.
Boyle, 28, has spent six minor league seasons in the Yankees organization (2018-19, ¡¯21-24), going 30-13 with four saves, one shutout and a 3.54 ERA (351.1IP, 306H, 163R/138ER, 82BB, 379K, 43HR) in 106 games (48 starts). The right-handed pitcher combined to go 4-1 with one save and a 3.86 ERA (21.0IP, 18H, 9R/ER, 5BB, 22K, 2HR) in 16 appearances (two starts) with the FCL Yankees, High-A Hudson Valley and Double-A Somerset in 2024. The Selden, N.Y., native was signed by the Yankees to a minor league contract on November 3, 2024. He was selected by the Yankees in the 25th round of the 2018 First-Year Player Draft out of Dallas Baptist University (Tex.).
Brewer, 32, has spent parts of six Major League seasons with the San Diego Padres (2018), Boston Red Sox (2019-21), Yankees (2023) and Chicago Cubs (2024), going 2-5 with one save and a 5.10 ERA (120.0IP, 139H, 77R/68ER, 70BB, 114K, 16HR) in 100 appearances (four starts). In 2024, the right-handed pitcher recorded 16 relief outings with Chicago-NL, posting a 5.66 ERA with one save (20.2IP, 24H, 16R/13ER, 9BB, 22K, 1HR). Additionally, he made 16 appearances with Triple-A Iowa, going 0-3 with four saves and a 2.00 ERA (18.0IP, 12H, 7R/4ER, 8BB, 20K, 2HR. He was signed by the Yankees as a minor league free agent on December 14, 2024. Brewer was also previously acquired by the Yankees from the Tampa Bay Rays in exchange for cash considerations on March 30, 2023, and made three appearances with the Yankees, posting a 4.32 ERA (8.1IP, 6H, 4R/ER, 3BB, 4K, 3HR). The Dallas, Tex., native was originally selected by the Pittsburgh Pirates in the fourth round of the 2011 First-Year Player Draft out of Canton High School (Tex.).
Carrasco, 37, has spent parts of 15 Major League seasons with Cleveland (2009-11, ¡¯13-20, ¡®24) and New York-NL (2021-23), going 110-103 with two saves, 11 complete games (four shutouts) and a 4.14 ERA (1,641.2IP, 1,612H, 796R/756ER, 451BB, 1,662K, 211HR) in 324 games (277 starts). The 2019 Roberto Clemente Award winner owns the fourth-most strikeouts in Major League history among Venezuelan-born players. The right-handed pitcher made 21 starts with Cleveland in 2024, going 3-10 with a 5.64 ERA (103.2IP, 112H, 68R/65ER, 33BB, 89K, 19HR). It marked his eighth season of at least 20 starts (also 2011, ¡®15-18, ¡®22-24) while allowing 3ER-or-fewer in 14 of his starts. Carrasco signed with the Yankees as a minor league free agent on February 1, 2025. The Barquisimeto, Venezuela, native was originally signed as a non-drafted free agent by the Philadelphia Phillies on November 25, 2003.
Davis, 25, has hit .238 (283-for-1,189) with 192R, 61 doubles, 3 triples, 48HR, 165RBI, 155BB and 28SB in 346 combined games over six minor league seasons in the Chicago Cubs organization (2018-19, ¡¯21-24). The right-handed batter hit .220 (38-for-173) with 36R, 7 doubles, 11HR, 32RBI, 29BB and 1SB in 55 combined games with High-A South Bend and Triple-A Iowa in 2024. Davis was signed by the Yankees as a minor league free agent on December 23, 2024. The Chandler, Ariz., native was originally selected by the Chicago Cubs in the second round of the 2018 First-Year Player.
Ellis, 27, has spent parts of four minor league seasons in the Chicago White Sox (2021-24), New York Mets (2024), Tampa Bay Rays (2024), and Yankees (2024) organizations, hitting .237 (225-for-951) with 162R, 32 doubles, 6 triples, 17HR, 83RBI, 107BB and 140SB in 281 career games. In 83 combined games with Double-A Birmingham, Triple-A Charlotte, Double-A Binghamton, Triple-A Tacoma, and Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre in 2024, he batted .230/.308/.328 (56-for-244) with 44R, 5 doubles, 2 triples, 5HR, 32RBI, 24BB and 57SB. He ranked among all minor leaguers in stolen bases (tied for 10th). The left-handed batter began the 2024 season with Double-A Birmingham before making his Major League debut with the Chicago White Sox and appearing in eight games for the club (0-for-4, 1R, 4SB). He was designated for assignment on June 16 and claimed off waivers by New York-NL on June 21. The Mets designated him for assignment on June 30 and he was claimed off waivers by Seattle on July 4 before being designated for assignment by the Mariners on August 23. He was then claimed off waivers by the Yankees on August 26 and went 1-for-1 with 1SB over three games. The Shreveport, La., native was originally selected by the San Diego Padres in the 20th round of the 2017 First-Year Player Draft, but did not sign. He then signed with Chicago-AL as a non-drafted league free agent on June 19, 2020.
Flores, 24, has hit .272 (226-for-830) with 120R, 47 doubles, 1 triple, 31HR, 115RBI, 115BB and 11SB in 231 combined games over three minor league seasons in the Yankees organization (2022-24). The right-handed batter hit .279 (121-for-434) with 67R, 31 doubles, 21HR, 68RBI, 66BB and 8SB in 122 combined games with High-A Hudson Valley and Double-A Somerset in 2024. Among qualified Yankees farmhands, he ranked second in home runs, doubles, extra-base hits (52) and total bases (215), third in hits, was tied for fourth in walks, fifth in RBI, slugging percentage (.495) and OPS (.874), seventh in runs scored and ninth in batting average. Following the season, Flores was tabbed as the No. 10 prospect in the Yankees organization according to Baseball America and was also labeled by the publication as the Yankees¡¯ 2024 Minor League Player of the Year. The Anaheim, Calif., native was signed by the Yankees as a non-drafted free agent on July 25, 2022.
Hampton, 23, has spent two minor league seasons in the Yankees organization (2023-24), going 4-4 with a 3.45 ERA (125.1IP, 96H, 57R/48ER, 46BB, 161K, 14HR) in 27 starts. In 2024, he made seven combined starts with the FCL Yankees, Single-A Tampa and Double-A Somerset, going 0-1 with a 2.41 ERA (18.2IP, 11H, 6R/5ER, 9BB, 16K, 1HR). In spring training of 2024, the right-handed pitcher was named a 2023 recipient of the ¡°Kevin Lawn¡± Award as the Yankees¡¯ minor league ¡°Pitcher of the Year.¡± Following the season, Hampton was tabbed by Baseball America as the No. 7 prospect in the Yankees organization and was also labeled by the publication as having the ¡°Best Fastball¡± and ¡°Best Curveball¡± among Yankees farmhands. The Kilgore, Tex., native was selected by the Yankees in the sixth round of the 2022 First-Year Player Draft out of Texas Tech University.
Hartlieb, 31, has spent parts of five Major League seasons with the Pittsburgh Pirates (2019-21), New York Mets (2021), Miami Marlins (2023) and Colorado Rockies (2024), going 1-1 with a 7.37 ERA (79.1IP, 93H, 68R/65ER, 55BB, 76K, 11HR) in 64 combined relief appearances. In 2024, Hartlieb made five appearances with the Colorado Rockies, posting a 9.00 ERA (9.0IP, 13H, 10R/9ER, 4BB, 7K, 1HR). He spent the majority of this past season with Triple-A Albuquerque, going 5-1 with two saves and a 5.47 ERA (54.1IP, 59H, 35R/33ER, 24BB, 56K, 8HR) in 41 relief appearances. The right-handed pitcher was signed by the Yankees as a minor league free agent on October 18, 2024. The Highland, Ill., native was originally selected by the New York Mets in the 37th round of the 2015 First-Year Player Draft, but did not sign. He was then selected by the Pittsburgh Pirates in the 29th round of the 2016 First-Year Player Draft out of Lindenwood University (Mo.).
Hern¨¢ndez, 24, has spent five minor league seasons in the Philadelphia Phillies (2018, ¡¯21-24) organization, going 14-20 with four saves and a 3.64 ERA (319.0IP, 305H, 152R/129ER, 95BB, 333K, 35HR) in 137 games (44 starts). The right-handed pitcher went 1-3 with three saves and a 3.50 ERA (54.0IP, 50H, 22R/21ER, 13BB, 57K, 4HR) in 40 combined appearances (one start) with Single-A Clearwater, High-A Jersey Shore and Double-A Reading in 2024. Following the season, Hern¨¢ndez played for the Caribes de Anzoategui in the Venezuelan Professional Baseball League, going 1-1 with a 3.86 ERA (18.2IP, 16H, 13R/8ER, 8BB, 3K, 3HR) in five games (four starts). He was signed by the Yankees as a minor league free agent on November 11, 2024. The Cuman¨¢, Venezuela, native was originally signed by the Philadelphia Phillies as a non-drafted free agent on July 9, 2017.
Jackson, 29, has spent parts of five Major League seasons with the Atlanta Braves (2019-21), Miami Marlins (2021), Milwaukee Brewers (2022) and Tampa Bay Rays (2024), batting .132 (40-for-302) with 30R, 12 doubles, 6HR, 24RBI, 26BB and 1SB in 124 career games. He has appeared defensively throughout his career at catcher (113G/93GS) and right field (1G). Jackson has also thrown out 16-of-55 (29.1%) baserunners in his career. In 2024, the right-handed batter hit .122 (17-for-139) with 17R, 7 doubles, 3HR, 12RBI, 12BB and 1SB in 58 games with the Rays. He began this past season with Triple-A Durham, hitting .238 (25-for-105) with 17R, 5 doubles, 1 triple, 8HR, 20RBI and 12BB in 28 games. Jackson signed with the Cincinnati Reds as a minor league free agent on November 5, 2024. He was then acquired by the Yankees from the Reds along with RHP Fernando Cruz in exchange for C Jose Trevino on December 20, 2024. The San Diego, Calif., native was originally selected by the Seattle Mariners in the first round (sixth overall) of the 2014 First-Year Player Draft.
Jones, 23, has spent three minor league seasons in the Yankees organization (2022-24), hitting .270/.344/.456 (285-for-1,055) with 165R, 65 doubles, 10 triples, 37HR, 156RBI, 114BB and 80SB in 264 combined games. In 2024, he hit .259 (125-for-482) with 73R, 30 doubles, 6 triples, 17HR, 78RBI, 54BB and 25SB in 122 games with Double-A Somerset. The left-handed batter led qualified Yankees minor leaguers in RBI, extra-base hits (53) and total bases (218), ranked second in hits, tied for second in triples, tied for third in doubles, fourth in runs scored, sixth in home runs and 10th in slugging percentage. He was named to the American League roster for the SiriusXM All-Star Futures Game at Texas on July 13, 2024, batting fifth in the starting lineup and playing RF (0-for-1, 1R, 1BB). Following the season, Jones was named an Eastern League Postseason All-Star and was tabbed by Baseball America as the No. 6 prospect in the Yankees organization. He was also labeled by the publication as the ¡°Best Power Hitter,¡± ¡°Fastest Baserunner,¡± ¡°Best Defensive Outfielder¡± and ¡°Best Athlete¡± among Yankees minor leaguers. The Encinitas, Calif., native was selected by the Yankees in the first round (25th overall) of the 2022 First-Year Player Draft out of Vanderbilt University (Tenn.).
Leal, 29, has spent seven minor league seasons in the Arizona Diamondbacks (2012) and Chicago Cubs (2013-16, ¡®18-19) organizations, going 41-25 with two saves, one shutout and a 3.37 ERA (556.0IP, 527H, 248R/208ER, 145BB, 458K, 36HR) in 122 combined games (97 starts). In 2024, the right-handed pitcher spent the season with the Diablos Rojos del M¨¦xico in the Mexican League, going 8-1 with a 2.91 ERA (80.1IP, 69H, 29R/26ER, 24BB, 95K, 6HR) in 16 games (15 starts). Following the season, Leal also made 12 starts for the Leones del Caracas in the Venezuelan Professional Baseball League. He was signed by the Yankees to a two-year minor league contract for the 2024 and 2025 season on September 12, 2024. The Valencia, Venezuela, native was originally signed by the Diamondbacks as a non-drafted free agent on September 14, 2011.
Leibrandt, 32, has made seven career Major League appearances with the Miami Marlins (2020) and Cincinnati Reds (2024), posting a 5.28 ERA (15.1IP, 14H, 9R/ER, 9BB, 8K, 3HR). He has spent eight minor league seasons in the Philadelphia Phillies (2014-18), Marlins (2021), Chicago Cubs (2022) and Reds (2024) organizations, going 40-32 with two saves, two complete games and a 3.66 ERA (641.2IP, 603H, 275R/261ER, 172BB, 535K, 68HR) in 145 combined games (112 starts). In 2024, the left-handed pitcher signed with the Reds as a minor league free agent on May 24 and spent the majority of the season with Triple-A Louisville, going 3-4 with a 4.41 ERA (83.2IP, 81H, 43R/41ER, 21BB, 80K, 15HR) in 17 starts. Leibrandt also made two appearances with the Reds this past season, posting a 9.95 ERA (6.1IP, 11H, 7R/ER, 2BB, 5K, 3HR). He signed with the Yankees as a minor league free agent on November 5, 2024. The Alpharetta Ga., native was originally selected by the Tampa Bay Rays in the 48th round of the 2011 First-Year Player Draft, but did not sign. Lombard Jr., 19, has spent two minor league seasons in the Yankees organization (2023-24), batting .238 (112-for-470) with 65R, 27 doubles, 2 triples, 5HR, 51RBI, 74BB and 43SB in 123 combined games. The right-handed batter split the 2024 season between Single-A Tampa and High-A Hudson Valley, batting .231/.338/.334 (98-for-425) with 56R, 25 doubles, 2 triples, 5HR, 45RBI, 61BB and 39SB in 110 combined games. He led Yankees farmhands in stolen bases, was tied for eighth in doubles and ranked ninth in hits and walks this past season. Following the season, Lombard Jr. was tabbed as the No. 2 prospect in the Yankees organization and the No. 88 overall prospect according to Baseball America. He was also labeled by the publication as the ¡°Best Defensive Infielder¡± among Yankees farmhands. The Miami, Fla., native was originally selected by the Yankees in the first round (26th overall) of the 2023 First-Year Player Draft out.
Mart¨ªnez, 23, has spent six minor league seasons in the Yankees organization (2018-19, ¡¯21-24), batting .246/.377/.418 (258-for-1,049) with 176R, 46 doubles, 4 triples, 42HR, 174RBI, 212BB and 13SB in 319 combined games. The left-handed batter spent the entire 2024 season with High-A Hudson Valley, batting .238/.374/.404 (83-for-349) with 53R, 15 doubles, 2 triples, 13HR, 41RBI, 73BB and 3SB in 104 games. He led all Yankees minor leaguers in walks and ranked among qualified South Atlantic League batters in OBP (third), walks (third) and OPS (.778, 10th). The San F¨¦lix, Venezuela, native was signed by the Yankees to a minor league contract on November 3, 2024. He was originally signed by the Yankees as a non-drafted free agent on June 15, 2018.
Munguia, 26, has spent seven minor league seasons in the San Francisco Giants (2016-19, ¡¯21, ¡®23-24) organization, hitting .293/.359/.412 (567-for-1,932) with 333R, 105 doubles, 23 triples, 26HR, 233RBI, 159BB and 82SB in 514 combined games. The left-handed batter split the 2024 season between Triple-A Sacramento and Double-A Richmond, hitting .286/.387/.418 (89-for-311) with 62R, 18 doubles, 1 triple, 7HR, 38RBI, 37BB and 18SB in 93 combined games. He was tied for sixth in runs scored and tied for seventh in stolen bases among Giants farmhands. Munguia was signed by the Yankees as a minor league free agent on December 11, 2024. The Chinandega, Nicaragua, native was originally signed by the Giants as a non-drafted free agent on July 25, 2015.
Pestana, 26, has spent six minor league seasons in the Yankees organization (2018-19, ¡¯21-24), going 5-13 with three saves and a 5.92 ERA (165.2IP, 148H, 116R/109ER, 95BB, 226K, 20HR) in 71 games (38 starts). In 2024, the right-handed pitcher went 2-0 with two saves and a 2.78 ERA (32.1IP, 20H, 10R/ER, 14BB, 43K, 2HR) in 27 relief appearances with High-A Hudson Valley and Double-A Somerset. Following the season, he played in four games with the Cardenales de Lara of the Venezuelan Winter League. The Guatire, Venezuela, native was signed to a minor league contract by the Yankees on November 3, 2024. He was originally signed by the Yankees as a non-drafted free agent on February 26, 2018.
Reyes, 31, has spent parts of six Major League seasons with the Pittsburgh Pirates (2018-19), Milwaukee Brewers (2021-22), Boston Red Sox (2023-24) and New York Mets (2024), batting .248 (129-for-521) with 72R, 25 doubles, 2 triples, 8HR, 54RBI, 45BB and 13SB in 234 career games. He has appeared defensively at all three outfield positions (LF-26G/16GS, RF- 27G/14GS, CF-11G/5GS), second base (49G/30GS), third base (50G/25GS), shortstop (40G/30GS) and first base (4G/1GS) in his career. The right-handed batter hit .183 (11-for-60) with 5R, 2 doubles, 5RBI, 3BB and 1SB in 22 combined games with Boston and New York-NL in 2024. He was acquired by the Mets from the Red Sox in exchange for cash considerations on May 25. Reyes also played in 68 combined games with Triple-A Worcester and Triple-A Syracuse this past season, hitting .300/.385/.504 (69-for-230) with 47R, 7 doubles, 2 triples, 12HR, 42RBI, 33BB and 15SB. He was signed by the Yankees as a minor league free agent on November 12, 2024. The Santo Domingo, D.R., native was originally signed by the Pittsburgh Pirates as a non-drafted free agent on April 5, 2012.
Reyzelman, 23, has spent three seasons in the Yankees organization (2022-24), going 2-2 with six saves and a 2.68 ERA (50.1IP, 29H, 16R/15ER, 26BB, 79K, 3HR) in 40 appearances (one start). The right-handed pitcher made 31 combined appearances (one start) with the FCL Yankees, High-A Hudson Valley and Double-A Somerset in 2024, going 1-1 with five saves and a 1.16 ERA (38.2IP, 18H, 6R/5ER, 19BB, 63K, 2HR). The San Ramon, Calif., native was selected by the Yankees in the fifth round of the 2022 First-Year Player Draft out of Louisiana State University.
Rodr¨ªguez, 34, has spent parts of 11 minor league seasons in the Tampa Bay Rays (2007-13), Kansas City Royals (2014), Yankees (2015, ¡¯22) and St. Louis Cardinals (2023-24) organizations, going 13-29 with two saves and a 3.73 ERA (364.0IP, 326H, 178R/151ER, 122BB, 346K, 29HR) in 139 games (65 starts). Rodr¨ªguez appeared in two Major League games back in 2014 with the Kansas City Royals (2.0IP, 1H, 0R, 1BB, 1K), his only two career Major League appearances. He has also spent two seasons in the Mexican League (2021-22), going 7-5 with 17 saves and a 2.71 ERA (73.0IP, 48H, 23R/22ER, 25BB, 108K, 5HR) in 71 appearances. In 2024, he made 13 combined appearances (one start) with Triple-A Memphis and Single-A Palm Beach in the Cardinals organization, going 0-1 with a 6.17 ERA (11.2IP, 8H, 8R/ER, 11BB, 17K, 1HR). Rodr¨ªguez was then released on September 26 and signed by the Yankees as a minor league free agent on December 12. Following the season, he made 22 appearances with Navegantes del Magallanes in the Venezuelan Winter League, going 0-1 with seven saves and a 3.66 ERA (19.2IP, 16H, 9R/8ER, 5BB, 26K). The Puerto Cabello, Venezuela, native was originally signed by the Tampa Bay Rays as a non-drafted free agent on February 26, 2007.
Rumfield, 24, has batted .265/.359/.423 (277-for-1,045) with 162R, 57 doubles, 36HR, 173RBI, 139BB and 16SB in 292 games over four minor league seasons in the Yankees organization (2021-24). In 2024, Rumfield combined with Double-A Somerset and Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre to bat .294 (132-for-449) with 77R, 27 doubles, 15HR, 73RBI, 49BB and 4SB in 122 games. Among qualified Yankees farmhands, he led the organization in hits, was tied for second in runs scored, ranked third in RBI and total bases (204), tied for fifth in doubles, sixth in batting average, tied for sixth in extra-base hits (42), tied for eighth in home runs and ninth in slugging percentage. The Richmond, Va., native was acquired by the Yankees from the Philadelphia Phillies along with LHP Joel Valdez in exchange for RHP Nick Nelson and C Donny Sands on November 19, 2021. He was originally selected by the Philadelphia Phillies in the 12th round of the 2021 First-Year Player Draft out of Virginia Tech University.
Schlittler, who turns 24 today, has gone 9-10 with a 3.56 ERA (166.2IP, 147H, 83R/66ER, 76BB, 204K, 14HR) in 39 games (36 starts) over two minor league seasons in the Yankees organization (2023-24). The right-handed pitcher made 25 combined appearances (23 starts) with High-A Hudson Valley, Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre and Double-A Somerset in 2024, going 8-8 with a 3.36 ERA (120.2IP, 98H, 58R/45ER, 55BB, 154K, 10HR). He has appeared defensively at all three outfield positions (CF-10G/1GS, LF-9G, RF-1G), shortstop (223G/165GS), second base (19G/6GS) and third base (8G/2GS) in his career. The switch-hitter spent the entire 2024 season with Triple-A Gwinnett in the Braves organization, hitting .242 (104-for-429) with 62R, 17 doubles, 16HR, 48RBI, 34BB and 33SB in 118 games. Among qualified Braves farmhands, Velazquez was tied for first in home runs, ranked fourth in total bases (169), tied for fourth in extra base hits (33) and runs scored, sixth in slugging percentage (.394), seventh in stolen bases, eighth in hits and ninth in OPS (.692). Following the season, he was signed by the Yankees as a minor league free agent on December 31, 2024. The Bronx, N.Y., native was originally selected by the Arizona Diamondbacks in the seventh round of the 2012 First-Year Player Draft out of Fordham Preparatory School (N.Y.).
