BOSTON, MA¡ªThe Boston Red Sox have appointed right-handed pitcher Cooper Criswell as the club¡¯s 27th man for today¡¯s doubleheader against the Cleveland Guardians at Progressive Field. Per Major League Baseball rules, both teams are permitted to add an extra player for today¡¯s games.
Criswell, 28, has appeared in three games this season for Boston, allowing eight runs (five earned) in 4.1 innings. The right-hander has also posted a 0.82 ERA (1 ER/11.0 IP) with a 0.91 WHIP and 16 strikeouts in three games (two starts) for Triple-A Worcester. Originally selected by the Los Angeles Angels in the 13th round of the 2018 First-Year Player Draft, the Georgia native owns a 4.78 ERA (75 ER/141.1 IP) in 41 career Major League games (20 starts) with the Angels (2021), Tampa Bay Rays (2022-23), and Red Sox (2024-25).
