In case it wasn't clear, Roman Anthony gave a striking reminder of why he's the top hitting prospect in baseball.
Boston's No. 1 prospect put an exclamation mark on Triple-A Worcester's opening series by crushing his first two homers of the season in a 12-0 win over Syracuse on Sunday at Polar Park.

Anthony showed off two of his best offensive traits in the contest: advanced swing decisions and tremendous raw power. Across five plate appearances, he swung at just one pitch out of the zone, which allowed him to work a pair of walks for the second straight game. And when he did find a pitch to hit, he laid some serious thump.
After coming around to score on those walks in the first and third innings, Anthony finally found a pitch to hit in the fourth. Right-hander Dedniel N¨²?ez dropped a backdoor slider into the lower-third of the zone, which the 21-year-old turned on and lasered at 105.3 mph the other way. Unfortunately for him, it only made it to the warning track, just within the reach of left fielder Gilberto Celestino.
Anthony left no chance for fielders to stop him in his final two at-bats.

Facing righty Justin Hagenman in the sixth inning, Anthony spit on a pair of pitches just outside the zone -- one of which was called for a strike -- before getting a cutter up and in. The Florida native crushed it and admired the ball go as it flew 412 feet at 109.6 mph over the right-field fence.
Two innings later, Hagenman offered a first-pitch sinker over the plate, and Anthony didn't hesitate as he went the other way on a 364 foot, 106.4 mph roundtripper to left-center.
The lefty-swinging slugger tore up Triple-A last season to the tune of a .344/.465/.519 line across 35 games, but it took just two games into the 2025 season for him to set or tie personal bests. This was his first game in the International League with two homers and just his second with four runs or three RBIs. It was also his first game with three batted balls measured by Statcast at 105 mph or harder.
