The Minnesota Twins announced today that they have selected the contract of right-handed pitcher Scott Blewett from Triple-A St. Paul.
Blewett has appeared in two games for the Saints this season, allowing three runs on three hits in 2.1 innings pitched, with two walks and three strikeouts. He went 0-2 with a 2.79 ERA (9.2 IP, 3 ER), three walks and seven strikeouts in eight games (1 start) in Twins major league spring training, prior to being reassigned to minor league camp on March 25. In 2024, the 28-year-old combined to go 6-3, 3.24 ERA (75.0 IP, 27 ER) with 25 walks and 72 strikeouts in 50 games for St. Paul and Minnesota.
To make room on both the 26-man and 40-man rosters, the Twins have designated right-handed pitcher Darren McCaughan for release or assignment. McCaughan made three relief appearances after joining the Twins on March 31, posting a 1.69 ERA (5.1 IP, 1 ER) with one hold, one walk and six strikeouts.
