10 Tigers games to air on FOX 2 Detroit for 1st time since 2007
LAKELAND, Fla. -- For the first time since 2007, the Tigers will have a slate of regular-season games available on non-paid cable in the Detroit area. Ilitch Sports + Entertainment announced Sunday that it has partnered with FanDuel Sports Network and WJBK-TV to simulcast 10 games on FOX 2 Detroit.
The agreement -- which includes the Tigers¡¯ home opener on Friday, April 4 against the White Sox -- supplements the Tigers¡¯ broadcast schedule on FDSN Detroit, giving fans the option of watching 10 games over the air for free on FOX 2 in addition to FDSN. It¡¯ll be the same broadcast on both outlets. It¡¯s part of a multi-sport agreement that includes five games down the stretch for the NHL¡¯s Detroit Red Wings.
Here are the Tigers games to be simulcast on FOX 2 (all times Eastern):
Friday, April 4: Tigers vs. White Sox, 1:10
Tuesday, April 15: Tigers at Brewers, 7:40
Thursday, May 1: Tigers at Angels, 9:38
Thursday, May 8: Tigers at Rockies, 3:10
Thursday, June 12: Tigers at Orioles, 6:35
Saturday, June 21: Tigers at Rays, 12:10
Friday, June 27: Tigers vs. Twins, 7:10
Thursday, July 3: Tigers at Nationals, 6:45
Friday, July 11: Tigers vs. Mariners, 7:10
Tuesday, Aug. 12: Tigers at White Sox, 7:40
¡°We are thrilled to bring select Red Wings and Tigers games to a broader television audience across metro Detroit,¡± Ryan Gustafson, Ilitch Sports + Entertainment President and CEO, said in a release. "Our commitment to innovate drives us to explore new opportunities for engaging with fans, particularly in how they consume our broadcasts. We extend our gratitude to our partners at FanDuel Sports Network and FOX 2 Detroit for their collaboration in making this vision a reality.¡±
FOX 2 has broadcast Tigers games as part of the FOX Network regular-season and postseason national package over the years, and broadcast the Tigers¡¯ home opener for a series of years in partnership with what was then FOX Sports Detroit. But the Tigers haven¡¯t had a package of games over the air in Detroit since 2007 with FOX 2.
