DETROIT -- The Tigers on Tuesday traded former reliever Jose Valdez to the Angels for cash considerations.
Valdez, who made his Major League debut last July following the Tigers' moves at the non-waiver Trade Deadline, gave up four runs on 10 hits over nine innings last year with Detroit, walking four and striking out four. The 26-year-old right-hander earned a brief callup to Detroit this April but spent most of the year in the Minors, opening the season at Triple-A Toledo before being sent to Double-A Erie. He gave up 11 runs, 10 earned, on 20 hits over 20 innings between the two stops with 12 walks and 16 strikeouts.
The Tigers designated Valdez for assignment Wednesday to make room for Bobby Parnell on the 40-man roster.
