Twins announce plans for 2025 Winter Caravan
They don¡¯t call it ¡°Twins Territory¡± for nothing. One benefit, and challenge, for Minnesota¡¯s Major League team is that the fan base stretches far beyond its home base in the Twin Cities. There are Twins fans all over North America, but especially throughout Minnesota, Wisconsin, the Dakotas and even the Canadian Prairie.
There¡¯s a pretty good chance you¡¯re reading from one of those places, and if so, thank you.
So every January, in the middle of winter, the club makes it a point to bring baseball, and the team, to those fans where they are. Welcome to the 2025 Twins Winter Caravan, the details of which were announced on Tuesday.
This year¡¯s Caravan will take place primarily in two main legs on Jan. 21-22, making stops in nine cities across four states. That of course leads up to TwinsFest 2025, set for Jan. 24-25 in Minneapolis. In the midst of the bitter cold, it¡¯s a warm reminder that, believe it or not, baseball is just around the corner.
Each leg features two current Twins players, a player alum and a member of the club¡¯s broadcast team traveling to different locales throughout the Upper Midwest. Each day of the respective tours will feature a community enrichment activity as well as ¡°Hot Stove¡± activities including question-and-answer, autograph and meet-and-greet sessions. Both main legs take place in the same two-day period.
Leg 1 features Austin Martin, Zebby Matthews, Justin Morneau, Cory Provus and T.C. Bear, and will visit Rochester, Minn., La Crosse, Wis., Welch and St. Cloud, Minn., and Fargo, N.D. On Leg 2, going to Willmar, Minn., Sioux Falls, S.D., and Owatonna and Mankato, Minn., the attendees will be Brooks Lee, Louie Varland, Kris Atteberry and Glen Perkins, with T.C. Bear at select stops.
Beyond the main Caravan events, the club will also support various other events in the region over the following weeks. Those include:
? The Baseball Old Timers Hot Stove League in St. Paul on Jan. 22
? The Justin Morneau Ice Fishing Tournament in St. Isle, Minn., to benefit United Heroes League on Feb. 1
? Second Harvest Heartland¡¯s 16th Annual End Hunger Together Radiothon in Brooklyn Park, Minn., on Feb. 4, and
? The Black Woods Blizzard Tour in Carlton, Minn., to fund the fight against ALS, on Feb. 5
