Twins' opener postponed, moved to Friday
MINNEAPOLIS -- Fans will need to wait one more day to watch Carlos Correa and Byron Buxton take the field together against megaprospect Julio Rodr¨ªguez at Target Field.
Thursday's scheduled Opening Day matchup between the Twins and Mariners will be postponed to Friday, the club announced, due to forecasts of rain, snow and cold temperatures in the Twin Cities area. First pitch will remain at 3:10 p.m. CT (1:10 p.m. PT) on Friday.
Fans holding tickets directly purchased from the Twins for Thursday's originally scheduled game can use them for admission on Friday or exchange them for any future Twins regular season home game in 2022, subject to availability. All such exchanges must be made by Thursday at 3:10 p.m. CT.
Any tickets purchased from resellers on the secondary market or complimentary tickets can be used only for Friday's rescheduled Opening Day. No tickets are subject to refunds.
All pregame ceremonies and celebrations originally scheduled for Thursday will occur on the same timeline Friday. The Twins will still serve Breakfast on the Plaza from 6-9 a.m. alongside 7th St. adjacent to the Twins Clubhouse Store, where fans can grab a free breakfast and enter to win prizes.
Gates will open to fans at 1 p.m. CT with the help of Twins players from the past and present. Current Twins will open the Twins Season Ticket Holder Gate, while Tony Oliva, Kent Hrbek, Tom Kelly, Jim Kaat, Kirby Puckett Jr. and Catherine Puckett will be on hand to open the other gates around the ballpark.
Twins manager Rocco Baldelli previously indicated that a change in the schedule will not change his choice for Opening Day starter, with rookie right-hander Joe Ryan still in line to toe the rubber as scheduled.
