Team to watch
The Yankees sent five of their best position prospects to High-A Hudson Valley: shortstop Oswald Peraza, second baseman Ezequiel Duran, catchers Josh Breaux and Anthony Seigler and outfielder Brandon Lockridge. Few pitchers anywhere in the Minors can match right-hander Luis Medina's pure stuff, though he's still learning to harness it. Left-hander Ken Waldichuk and righty Hayden Wesneski are two more arms to watch.

New faces
New York hasn't acquired any significant prospects since the end of last season. Two of its three 2020 Draft picks, catcher Austin Wells and second baseman/outfielder Trevor Hauver, will make their pro debuts at Low-A Tampa.
On the shelf
The Yankees' best pitching prospect, right-hander Clarke Schmidt, went down with an elbow strain in late February, went on the big league 60-day injured list a month later and began a throwing program at the end of April. Righties Yoendrys Gomez (sore arm) and Alexander Vizcaino (sore arm), shortstop Josh Smith (hand) and left-hander T.J. Sikkema (lat) will miss the start of the Minor League season but New York hopes they'll join affiliates in the near future. Righty Beck Way and outfielder Ryder Green had minor ailments during Minor League camp, but they are healthy now and building themselves up in extended Spring Training.
