Yanks' 2025 coaching staff adds former reliever Claiborne
The Yankees have finalized manager Aaron Boone¡¯s coaching staff for the upcoming season, the club announced on Tuesday, including the addition of former Major League pitcher Preston Claiborne as an assistant pitching coach.
Claiborne, 37, is replacing Desi Druschel, who was hired by the Mets in December to fill the same role. He is entering his fifth season coaching in the Yankees¡¯ organization, having previously served as a pitching coach for Single-A Tampa (2024), High-A Hudson Valley (2023) and the Rookie-level Florida Complex League Yankees (2021-22).
He made 62 Major League relief appearances with the Yankees from 2013-14, going 3-2 with a 3.79 ERA. Claiborne also made one MLB appearance with the Rangers in 2017.
The remainder of Boone¡¯s coaching staff remains intact from 2024.
Brad Ausmus is returning as bench coach, Matt Blake as pitching coach, Mike Harkey as bullpen coach, James Rowson as hitting coach, Casey Dykes and Pat Roessler as assistant hitting coaches, Luis Rojas as third base/outfield coach, Travis Chapman as first base/infield coach and director of infield, and Tanner Swanson as Major League field coordinator and director of catching.
