Nov. 19: Added INF Caleb Durbin and C Jes¨²s Rodr¨ªguez to the 40-man roster. Received RHP Carson Coleman as a Rule 5 Draft return from the Rangers.
Durbin, 24, earned a spot on the 40-man roster with a terrific showing in the Arizona Fall League, where he was selected as an AFL ¡°Fall Star¡± and the AFL¡¯s Breakout Prospect of the Year. In the Fall League, Durbin batted .312/.427/.548 with five homers in 24 games, setting a league record with 29 stolen bases.
He spent most of this past season with Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre, batting .287/.396/.471 with 23 doubles, 10 homers, 60 RBIs and 29 steals in 82 games.
Rodr¨ªguez, 22, combined with High-A Hudson Valley and Double-A Somerset to hit .302/.375/.481 with 48 runs, 15 doubles, 10 homers and 47 RBIs this past season.
Coleman, 26, missed the entire 2024 season while recovering from right elbow surgery. He posted a 2.13 ERA across 44 relief appearances with High-A Hudson Valley and Double-A Somerset in 2022, striking out 69 in 44 innings.
Nov. 4: Traded OF Taylor Trammell to the Astros in exchange for cash considerations. Outrighted OF Duke Ellis off the Major League roster and onto the roster of Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre.
Trammell had been added to the Yankees¡¯ 40-man roster on Nov. 3. The 27-year-old played in 10 combined games with the Dodgers and Yankees in 2024, spending the majority of his season with Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre.
Ellis, 26, was utilized mostly as a pinch-runner by the Yankees, though he did collect his first big league hit on Sept. 4 at Texas. He also pinch-ran in Game 4 of the AL Division Series at Kansas City.
Nov. 3: RHP Yerry De Los Santos, C J.C. Escarra and OF Taylor Trammell added to 40-man roster; RHP Lou Trivino's club option declined
De Los Santos, 26, had a 2-2 record with four saves and a 4.12 ERA in 51 games (one start) at Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre this past season. His 51 appearances ranked second among Yankees farmhands. De Los Santos has made 48 career Major League relief appearances over parts of two seasons with the Pirates (2022-23), going 1-4 with three saves and a 4.14 ERA.
Escarra, 29, combined with Double-A Somerset (72 games) and Triple-A (52 games) to bat .261 (111-for-426) with 77 runs scored, 32 doubles, three triples, 12 homers, 64 RBIs and 55 walks in 2024. Among Yankees Minor Leaguers, he ranked first in doubles and finished tied for second in runs scored, third in extra-base hits (47), fourth in hits and fifth in total bases (185).
Trammell, 27, played in 10 combined games with the Dodgers and Yankees in 2024. He spent the majority of the season with Scranton/Wilkes-Barre, hitting .256/.381/.488 (86-for-336) with 65 runs, 20 doubles, two triples, 18 homers, 63 RBIs, 63 walks and 20 stolen bases. Trammell's 18 homers were tied for fourth among Yankees farmhands. He has previously seen big league time with the Mariners (2021-23).
Trivino¡¯s 2025 club option was for $5 million. The 33-year-old has not pitched in the Majors since he suffered a right elbow injury during the 2022 ALCS, which required Tommy John surgery. Trivino made 11 appearances for Somerset and Scranton/Wilkes-Barre, pitching to a 4.91 ERA across 11 innings.
Nov. 2: Yankees decline 2025 option for 1B Anthony Rizzo
Rizzo, 35, officially became a free agent when the Yankees declined the first baseman¡¯s $17 million option for the 2025 season, instead paying a $6 million buyout. Rizzo signed a two-year, $34 million deal with New York in November 2022. More >>
Nov. 1: Yankees exercise 2025 option on RHP Luke Weaver
Weaver will earn $2.5 million in 2025, coming off a strong '24 campaign in which he was elevated to the closer¡¯s role. The 31-year-old posted a 7-3 record, 2.89 ERA and four saves in a career-high 62 relief appearances during the regular season. Weaver was stellar in 12 appearances during the postseason, posting a 1.76 ERA across 15 1/3 innings.
INJURY UPDATES
RHP JT Brubaker (recovery from Tommy John surgery, oblique strain)
Expected return: 2025
Brubaker made three September appearances with Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre, marking a return to the mound after he sustained an oblique injury while making a fielding play during a July 11 Minor League rehab start for the RailRiders. The injury interrupted Brubaker¡¯s recovery from Tommy John surgery performed on April 12, 2023. He was acquired from the Pirates on March 29. (Last updated: Oct. 4)
OF Everson Pereira (right UCL tear; No. 10 on the Yankees' top prospects list)
Expected return: 2025
Pereira underwent reconstructive Tommy John surgery with an internal brace in early June, manager Aaron Boone said on June 14. Pereira had been playing through the injury at Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre, last appearing for the RailRiders on May 14. Boone said Pereira¡¯s injury was ¡°unfortunate,¡± but that similar to Jasson Domínguez, it is one the organization expects him to bounce back from. ¡°This isn¡¯t something that¡¯s going to hurt his career too much," Boone said.
