Christian Matthew Michalak...married wife, Shannon, on Oct. 10, 1998...couple have two children: Madison (2/4/98) and Tyler (8/2/00)...graduated in '89 from Joliet (IL) Catholic High School...throwing right-handed, quarterbacked Joliet to state championship as a junior...cousin of former big leaguer, Mark Grant (current SDP broadcaster)...played 4 years of baseball at the University of Notre Dame (1990-93), going 34-13 with a 3.21 ERA...was an extra in the movie, *Rudy*.

2006

Appeared in 8 games (6 starts) with CIN in first big league action since 2002...in his 6 big league starts, CIN went 1-5...earned the win in his CIN debut, August 12 at PHI, tossing 6.2 innings of one-run ball in relief of starter Elizardo Ramirez...it was his first big league victory since Sept. 2, 2001...the 6.2-inning outing was the longest relief stint by a CIN hurler since May 4, 1984 at PHI (Frank Pastore, 8.1 innings)...ERA ranked 3rd in the IL and 5th in the CIN chain.

2005

Threw a career-high 165.0 pitches in 26 games (25 starts) for Tucson of the Triple-A PCL...led the PCL in complete games (3) and ranked 3rd in innings pitched...tossed back-to-back CG, June 28 vs. Las Vegas and July 4 at Salt Lake City.
