DL STINT: Started the season on the disabled list with bone spurs in his right elbow... Was reinstated on May 11 and began with Dunedin of the Florida State League (A)... Played 11 games (8-3B, 3-DH) batted .386 (17-44) with three doubles and five RBI... Had a six-game hit streak from May 16-22, over that span he batted .444 (12-27) with three doubles and three RBI... Was promoted to Syracuse of the International League (AAA) on May 23... WITH SYRACUSE: Played 26 games (24-3B, 2-DH) for the SkyChiefs... Batted .316 (30-95) with a home run and 10 RBI... Posted a .387 on-base percentage... Walked 10 times while striking out 16... June 4 vs. LOU had a season high three hits... Only home run came June 8 vs. BUF (1-R)... Had a ten-game hitting streak from May 29-June 7... Over those 10 games, batted .390 with four doubles and seven RBI... Batted .354 in June (17-48) with three doubles, one home run and five RBI... June 14, was placed on the disabled list with a pulled left hamstring... Was reinstated on August 4... Acquired by the Blue Jays on July 24 in a trade with the Boston Red Sox for RHP Terry Adams... Native of Guam had been batting .295 with 12 home runs and 35 RBI in 75 games with Portland, also of the Eastern League, at the time of the trade... In 40 games with New Hampshire, batted .296 with 10 home runs and 30 RBI... Drew a combined 59 walks and ranked fourth in the Eastern League with a .391 on-base percentage... Reached base by a hit or walk in 32 of his 40 games with New Hampshire... Homered twice and drove in four runs on July 31 in an 8-1 win against his former team... Collected four hits, five RBI and three runs scored, all season highs, in a 19-6 win at Portland on September 6 on the final day of the regular season... Batted .232 at home while with the Fisher Cats and .356 on the road... Homered twice in the playoffs, including a two-run shot in the 2-0 series-deciding win in the league final with Altoona... Was selected to play in the Arizona Fall League... He drove in 31 runs in 28 games for the Peoria Saguaros to rank first on his team and second overall in the developmental league for some of baseball's top young prospects... Furthermore, 14 of his 35 hits went for extra bases, including a pair of home runs and a league-leading three triples.
