Split the season between the Royals and Angels, going a combined 1-5 with a 4.23 ERA (26 ER, 55.1 IP) in 53 relief appearances...Was designated for assignment by the Royals on July 14 and acquired off waivers by Los Angeles-AL on July 24.

2012

J.C. did not pitch until July as he continued to rehab his September 2011 Tommy John surgery...Made a combined 19 appearances for Surprise (R), Northwest Arkansas (AA) and Omaha (AAA)...Following the season, served as the closer for Caracas in the Venezuelan Winter League and was 1-1 with 14 saves and a 0.81 ERA (22.1 IP, 2 ER) in 24 appearances and was named league Reliever of the Year.
