Spent the majority of the season with Columbus (AAA) of the International League... Pitched in 30 games, making 14 starts... International League hitters batted .313, altough walked less than three batters per nine... Was 3-1 with a 1.42 ERA in May for the Clippers... ON THE BIG CLUB: Began the season with the Indians making only two relief appearances... On April 9 tossed four innings at Texas, holding the Rangers to two runs while striking out six... Allowed one run in 0.2 innings April 17 at NYY, allowing a home run to Robinson Cano... Was recalled for his final appearance, a start vs. TB... Did not factor in the decision, however allowed six runs in four innings.

2006

Went a combined 16-8 with a 3.92 ERA in 27 starts between Dunedin (A), New Hampshire (AA) and Syracuse (AAA)... Tied for the most wins of any pitcher in the minor leagues... Participated in the All-Star Futures Game at Detroit's Comerica Park... Began the season at Dunedin, where he went 8-1 with a 2.88 ERA in 10 starts and was selected to pitch in the Florida State League All-Star Game... Was named Blue Jays Minor League Player of the Month for May, going 5-0 with a 0.82 ERA in 5 starts (33IP, 3ER)... Earned a June promotion to New Hampshire, where he went 4-3 with a 4.00 ERA in 9 starts... Named Eastern League Pitcher of the Week for 6/6-6/12 as he went 1-0 with a 1.50 ERA (12ip, 2er)... Was transferred to Syracuse in late July and went 4-4 with a 5.13 ERA in 8 starts... Drafted by the Blue Jays in the supplemental round (32nd selection overall) of the 2004 First-Year Player Draft, the first of two compensatory picks for the loss of Kelvim Escobar through free agency... Agreed to terms with the Club on July 20, after posting a 10-7 record and a 3.58 ERA in 18 starts at Texas A&M University... Made his professional debut, pitching 2.2 innings in Jamestown on August 16... Made three other regular season starts but did not figure in the decision in any, while pitching to a 5.40 ERA... Took the loss in the second and deciding game of Auburn's semifinal with Mahoning Valley giving up five earned runs on seven hits in 3.1 innings... Was selected by Baseball America as the 8th top prospect in the organization.
