Brett Michael Carroll...played collegiately and majored in Organizational Communication at Middle Tennessee State University in Murfreesboro, TN...hit .301 with 50 doubles, 39 home runs and 133 RBI in 3 seasons with the Blue Raiders...graduated in 2001 from Bearden (TN) High School... while there, played baseball, basketball and golf...older brother, Chase, is a professional golfer and has spent most of his career on the mini tours.
2011
Spent vast majority of 2011 at Triple-A, hitting a combined .270 with 20 doubles, 16 homers and 63 RBI for Nashville and Pawtucket...after brief 3-game stint with the Brew Crew, was designated (July 30) and outrighted (Aug. 3) before signing minor-league deal with BOS...following season, played for Team USA in the 2011 World Cup...went 6-for-28 and helped Team USA earn a bronze medal (was teammates with Chad Tracy, who also signed with the Nationals).
2010
Opened the year on the 15-day D.L. with a strained left oblique suffered in spring training...Optioned to New Orleans (AAA) on June 6 where he spent the remainder of the season.
2009
Began 2009 on the Marlins Opening Day roster, marking his second consecutive Opening Day roster. Made two trips to triple-A New Orleans, where he batted a combined .233 with three doubles, a triple, five home runs and 12 RBI in 27 games. Was optioned to New Orleans on May 15, returning to Florida on May 27. Optioned to NO again on July 31 and returned on August 26...Established Major League career-highs in games (92), at-bats (141), average (.234), hits (33), doubles (8), triples (2), home runs (3) and RBI (18). Of his 33 hits, 12 went for extra bases (seven doubles, two triples, three home runs)...Connected for first Major League home run on June 8 off Randy Johnson. Also tripled and singled in setting a new career high with three hits. His three RBI were also a career best. According to the Elias Sport Bureau, the only other currently active Major League player whose first home run in the big leagues was hit off a pitcher who had already won 300 games is Arizona reliever Jon Rauch, whose only career home run came off Roger Clemens in 2004. He also became the first player ever to hit both a home run and a triple off Johnson in the same game...Connected for third home run of the season on July 9 at Arizona, an eighth-inning pinch hit home run to put the Marlins up 8-7. Hit second homer of the season (and career) June 27 at Tampa...Tied his career-high of three RBI on July 9 at Arizona and September 2 vs. Atlanta...Hit in a career-best six consecutive games from September 2-20, going 7x16 (.438) with four doubles and seven RBI in that span...Drove in game winning run with first career walk-off hit, September 23 vs. Philadelphia...Batted .350 (14x40) with two home runs and six RBI in June...Tied Cody Ross for the club lead in outfield assists with six...Made 32 starts and appeared as a late-inning defensive replacement 32 times. Went 5x21 (.238) with one home run and seven RBI as a pinch-hitter.
2008
Began season on Marlins Opening Day roster prior to being optioned to triple-A Albuquerque on April 7...spent majority of the season on the Disabled List with a right shoulder sprain, suffered on May 24 after crashing into the right field wall at Dolphin Stadium...he was returned from rehab and reinstated from the DL on September 1.
2007
Appeared in 23 games during two stints with Marlins ... selected from Albuquerque (AAA) June 17 and made Major League debut that night at Kansas City, starting in center field and going 0x3 ... had only multi-hit game of season (2x3) and recorded first Major League hit June 18 at Chicago-AL with single off RHP Jose Contreras in fifth inning ... recorded two RBI June 28 vs. Pittsburgh, knocking in both with first-inning single off LHP Zach Duke ... optioned to Albuquerque July 2 and was recalled September 4 ... Appeared at all three outfield positions: center field (12), left field (7), right field (5) ... recorded first ML outfield assist June 27 vs. Pittsburgh, throwing out Chris Duffy at second base after catching fly ball by Freddy Sanchez in ninth inning ... went 0x3 with one walk as pinch hitter ... Batted .304 with 22 home runs and 82 RBI in 118 games between Albuquerque and Carolina (AA) ... set career highs for home runs and RBI ... had fourth-best combined average in organization, and was among orginizational leaders with 34 doubles (2nd), .572 slugging percentage (3rd), 22 home runs (4th), 82 RBI (tied-4th) ... batted .314 with 19 home runs and 70 RBI in 88 games with Albuquerque ... had clubs' second-highest batting average behind Reggie Abercrombie (.323), and was third in home runs and RBI ... hit .270 with three home runs and 12 RBI in 30 games with Carolina.

Split season between Jupiter (A) and Carolina (AA)... batted combined .236 (110x466) with 17 home runs and 60 RBI in 133 games between the two stops...Began season with Jupiter and hit .241 with eight home runs and 30 RBI in 59 games as a Florida State League All-Star...hit in season-best eight straight games from April 22-29, going 16x30 (.533) with a home run and seven RBI during that stretch...had three RBI on April 27 at St. Lucie...appeared in all three outfield spots, but played primarily in right field (53)...also saw action in two games as designated hitter...Promoted to Carolina on June 9, and hit .232 with nine home runs and 30 RBI in 74 games...had one three-hit game, August 27 at Chattanooga...had two three-RBI games, June 13 at Birmingham and July 18 vs. Huntsville...played primarily in center field, but also saw action in right field...Tied for lead among organizational minor leaguers with 17 home runs (tied with Albuquerque's Scott Seabol)...also among Marlins' minor league leaders with 196 bases (2nd), 27 doubles (3rd)...Hit .284 (21x74) with three home runs and 16 RBI in 19 games with Peoria in the Arizona Fall League.

Spent entire season with Greensboro (A), where he hit .243 with 18 home runs and 54 RBI in 118 games...had first career two-homer game on April 22 at Asheville, going 3x5 with two solo homers...had two home runs in games on June 14 at Savannah...had two four-hit games, April 17 at Hickory and May 7 vs. Delmarva...made most appearances in right field (87), but also saw time in center field (22), left field (13) and as the designated hitter (3).
2004
Made his professional debut, seeing action in 60 games with Jamestown (A) in the New York-Penn League...batted .251 with six home runs and 28 RBI, and recorded 10 stolen bases...played at third base (33), second base (10), in the outfield (12) and as designated hitter (6).
