Sean Kazmar Jr.

Born in Valdosta, Ga…His dad was in the military, a United States Air Force Ranger, and stationed at Moody Air Force Base…Moved to Las Vegas, Nev. at a young age and spent the rest of his childhood there...He and his wife, Jennifer, have one son, Sean III...Attended Las Vegas (NV) High School and College of Southern Nevada, the same high school and college as Philadelphia Phillies OF Bryce Harper...Washington Nationals RH Erick Fedde also attended Las Vegas High School… Active major-league LHs Mike Dunn, Thomas Pannone and Chasen Shreve also attended College of Southern Nevada...Was drafted three times, all coming in consecutive seasons…Was first selected out of high school by the St. Louis Cardinals in 2002 (32nd round)…Also selected twice out of college, first by the Oakland Athletics in 2003 (37th round) and then by the San Diego Padres in 2004 (5th round).

2020

Received a non-roster invitation to Atlanta’s Spring Training…Played in 13 games and went 5-for-21 (.238) with one double, one home run, six RBI, one walk and one run scored...Hit a home run off Pittsburgh RH Chris Stratton on 3/4…Also had a go-ahead, two-out, two-run single in the ninth inning in that game…The Braves won, 9-7.

2019

Played his seventh consecutive season with the Stripers and hit .270 (103-for-381) with 12 home runs and 61 RBI in 108 games...Spent time defensively at all four infield positions, playing 69 games at first base, 19 at second base, six at third base and six at shortstop…Made three relief appearances, the first pitching appearances of his 15-year career…Did not allow a run in 3.0 innings...Ranks first in Gwinnett franchise history in games played (667), at-bats (2,310), hits (620), total bases (882), doubles (127), runs scored (279) and RBI (270)…Is second in triples (12) and fourth in home runs (37)...Had two five-hit games, 6/14 at Syracuse and 8/28 against Norfolk, the third and fourth such games of his career.

2018

Played his sixth consecutive season with Triple-A Gwinnett and batted .254/.296/.314 in 99 games.

2017

Named by Triple-A Gwinnett as the team's Co-Most Valuable Player (with Ozzie Albies) after batting .284/.310/.416 over 99 games...Ranked in the Top 10 among Braves farmhands in average (7th, .284) and home runs (T9th, 11)...2017 marked his fifth consecutive season with Gwinnett, and he now ranks first in Gwinnett franchise history in doubles (91), games (460) and at-bats (1,591), and second in hits (431), runs (189) and RBI (183).

2016

Played his fourth consecutive campaign with Triple-A Gwinnett, batting .263 (86-for-327) with 35 runs, 22 extra-base hits and 37 RBI in 93 games...Named the G-Braves' "Most Competitive Player" for 2016, his third consecutive year winning the award (2014, 2015)...Collected an IL-leading eight RBI in the playoffs in helping Gwinnett advance to the Governers' Cup Championship Series...On 9/10 vs. Columbus, he matched the Gwinnett playoff record for hits in a game with four (4-for-4, HR, R, 2 RBI), equaling the mark set by Mel Rojas Jr. a night prior on 9/9 vs. Columbus (4-for-5, 2B, 3B, 3 R, 2 RBI).

2015

Completed his third season in the Atlanta organization and his third with Triple-A Gwinnett, batting .280 (111-for-397) with 53 runs and 38 RBI in 106 games...Finished the season in the Top 10 among all Braves farmhands in doubles (3rd, 25), triples (T6th, 6), hits (10th, 111) and runs (T10th, 53)...Established a new career high with six triples, and logged his most games, at-bats, hits, doubles and RBI since the 2011 campaign...Opened the season batting .270 (58-for-215) in 58 games prior to the All-Star break, before batting .291 (53-for-182) in 48 games after the break to close the season.

2014

Played his second consecutive season with Gwinnett, hitting .297 (69-for-232) with 34 runs, 18 doubles, one triple, four home runs, 34 RBI and a pair of steals in 67 games...Honored with the Gwinnett Braves' "Most Competitive Player Award" for 2014.

2013

Spent his first year in the Braves organization with Gwinnett (AAA), splitting time between second base, third base and shortstop...His 95 games with the G-Braves were good for fifth-most on the squad.

2012

Played the majority of the season with Binghamton (AA) in the Mets system...Transferred to Buffsalo (AAA) on 5/29 before being transferred back to Binghamton on 6/21.

2011

Spent the entire season with Tacoma, the Triple-A affiliate for Seattle, ranking among team leaders in games (2nd, 127), doubles (2nd, 29), hits (3rd, 117) and triples (3rd, 3).

2010

Hit .275 (137x499) in 130 games for Portland (AAA) in the Padres organization... ranked 2nd on the team in hits, doubles, games played and total bases (190)...saw action at shortstop (83 G), second base (42 G) and outfield (2 G)...recorded 38 multi-hit games, including 12 games with 3+ hits...went 5-for-5 with 2 runs and home run Aug. 29 at Tacoma...recorded 2 homers and season-high 5 RBI July 10 at Sacramento...hit .318 (54x170) vs. lefties, and .252 (83x329) vs. right-handed pitching...had strong finish to the season batting .328 (43x131) with 4 home runs and 16 RBI over final 33 games.
