Randy Radames Ruiz... Has one child... Was a 1996 graduate of James Monroe (NY) High School... Attended Bellevue (NE) University where he was named an All-American in 1998.

2009

He began the season playing with Las Vegas in the Pacific Coast League (AAA)... Appeared in 114 games with the 51s, batting .320 batting average, with 43 doubles, 25 home runs &106 RBI, including a .392 on-base percentage, and a .584 slugging percentage... His marks in doubles, RBIs, and total bases led the league, when he was called up to Toronto on Aug. 11... QUITE THE HONOUR: Was selected to play in the PCL All-Star game & on Sept. 6, was selected as MVP of the PCL... It marked his 2nd major award at the AAA level, earning rookie of the year honours in 2008... MAKING A SPLASH: Was promoted on Aug. 11, and made his debut at Yankee Stadium... In his second at-bat hit his first home run as a Blue Jay and added another the next day... Recorded hits in each of his first seven contests and 12 of his first 13 adding four home runs... GOIN DEEP: In total hit 10 home runs in only 33 games & 115 at-bats... Hit one home run per every 11.50 at-bat, which ranked 1st on the club... The ratio of 11.50 was better than any regular in the major leagues... Sept. 30 at BOS, recorded his first multi-home run game of his career hitting two solo home runs to go along with four hits, both career highs... ROOKIE RANKINGS: Finished T-4th in the AL with his 10 home runs, doing so in only 155 at-bats...His .635 slugging pct., was .169 higher than the next best (min 100 AB's)... STRANGE BUT TRUE: Of his 10 home runs, only one came with men on base... ON THE ROAD AGAIN: Played in 17 road games, hitting seven of his 10 home runs... Eight of his 10 home runs came against AL East foes.

2008

Began season with Rochester (AAA)... Named to the International League post-season All Star team... Also named the 2008 International League Rookie of the Year... Won the International League's batting crown with a .320 batting average... Hit safely in 12 of his last 13 games with Rochester, batting .442 (19-43) with three home runs & 12 RBI before being recalled on Aug. 1... Made his Major League debut that night & recorded his ML hit off Cleveland's Jeremy Sowers... Hit his first ML home run off Seattle's Ryan Rowland-Smith on Aug. 26.

2007

Spent time with four teams in three major league organizations (PIT, PHI & SF)... Combined to hit .293 with 22 home runs, 80 RBI and a .511 SLG % in 130 contests between four minor league affiliates... Traded by the Pirates to the Phillies for no compensation on June 1 and was assigned to the Eastern League's Reading Phillies, where he batted .378 (31- 82) with three home runs and 12 RBI in 22 games... Released by the Phillies on July 24 and later signed on with the San Francisco Giants as a minor league free agent on July 26.
