and a career high .261 mark with six doubles, three triples and 10 RBI in 73 games with the Marlins ... Optioned to triple-A New Orleans on April 14 after appearing in only four games prior to the
demotion. Went 0x3 with a run scored ... Upon his arrival to NO, rattled off a 10-game hit streak where he hit .302 (13x43) with two doubles,

The 2009 season marked his first full season at the Major League level. Began the season as the
Marlins starting third baseman, making 82 starts at the hot corner. Also started 12 games at shortstop,
six in center field, four at second base and two in left field...Despite limited playing time in the second half of the season, ranked fifth in the club with 72 runs
scored...Tied for second in the National League in at-bats in the first half of the season (349), behind only
Miguel Tejada (353). Ranked second on the club with 52 runs in the first half, trailing Hanley
Ramirez (53)...Had a career-best nine-game hit streak from June 23 to July 2, where he batted .324 (11x34) over
the streak. Also had an eight game streak from May 8-10 where he hit .314 (11x35) with seven
runs scored...Recorded four hits on Opening Day, becoming the fourth Marlin in club history to tally four hits on
Opening Day. The others; Hanley Ramirez (4x6) in 2007, Carlos Delgado (4x5) in 2005 and Jeff
Conine (4x4) in 1993. In addition, he scored four times, tying a club record done 18 times before,
with Jorge Cantu being the last Marlin to do so on July 4, 2008...Tied his career high with four hits on July 9 vs. Pittsburgh...Drove in a career-high three runs June 9 against St. Louis...Batted .315 (45x143) against left-handed pitchers this season, ranking fourth on the club. Came

through a team's first three games of the season...Hit inside-the-park home run on Opening Day (off J. Tavarez), and became the first player since
July 7, 2001 (Cesar Izturis) with an inside-the-park home run as his first career homer. Was the first
inside-the-park home run on Opening Day since Carl Yastrzemski on April 10, 1968. Went 4x5 overall,

14 RBI in 49 games between Arizona and Washington...Began season in Diamondbacks organization, where he posted
a .302 average (111x367) with 18 doubles, five triples, one home
runs and 29 RBI in 85 games for triple-A Tucson...recalled by
Arizona, July 1, and posted a .167 average (2x12) with one double
and two RBI in eight games...Traded to Washington, July 22 for RHP Jon Rauch...reported to
triple-A Columbus, where he hit at a .452 clip (14x31) with two
doubles and three RBI...recalled by Nationals, August 1 and finished
the season with a .248 average (39x157), five doubles, five
triples and 12 RBI in 41 games...Upon reporting to Nationals, club won four straight and six of his
first seven games played...he had multi-hit efforts in five of those
six wins...hit safely in 26 of 41 games with Washington, including
