Zachary Ryan Davies...Graduated from Mesquite High School in Gilbert, Ariz... He was born in Washington, but his family moved to the Phoenix area when he was seven years old... Committed to play college baseball at Arizona State University before getting drafted by the Orioles in 2011.

2023

Capped the season with the 200th start of his career on Sept. 26 at Chicago (AL)... Tossed 5.0 innings of four-hit, one-run ball in his first start of the season on April 2 at Los Angeles (NL)... Was placed on the Injured List with a strained left oblique on April 9...Was reinstated on May 27... 2021

Made a team-high 32 starts with the Cubs, going 6-12 with a 5.78 ERA (95 ER in 148.0 IP) and 114 strikeouts... Achieved his third 30+ start campaign (also: 2017 and '19)... Posted a 1.23 ERA in May (6 ER in 31.1 IP)... Went 5-4 with a 3.12 ERA (29 ER in 83.2 IP) during a 16-game stretch from May 1-June 23…allowed 2 or fewer runs 11 times and no runs on five occasions.

2020

In his lone season with the Padres, Zach's seven victories tied for third-most in the majors and his 69.1 innings were 12th most among all N.L. pitchers...won a career-high five-consecutive outings from Aug. 17-Sept. 9...Walked 19, struck out 63 and recorded a 1.07 WHIP...opponents hit .216 with a .269 OBP and a .630 OPS...Finished the regular season with a 6.88 run support average, the highest among all qualifying N.L. pitchers and the 4th-highest in the majors...Held left-handed hitters to a .171 average (20-for-117) while right-handed hitters batted .254 (35-for-138)...Among all big league pitchers threw 750+ total pitches on the season, his 41.3 % change up usage was the highest rate in baseball... opposing hitters posted a .176 average against the pitch and it produced a 35.9-percent whiff rate, the highest whiff rate of any pitch in a single season in his career...His cutter had 6.1 inches of vertical movement in 2020, which ranked as the 2nd-most movement of any cutter in the majors (min. 100 occurrences). 

2019

Went 10-7 with a 3.55 ERA (63 ER, 159.2 IP) and led the Brewers in starts (31) and innings pitched (159.2)...Made 30+ starts for the second time in his career (33 in 2017)...Notched 10+ wins for the 3rd time in his career (11 in 2016 and 17 in 2017)...MIL went 18-13 in his starts, and he tossed 8 quality starts....Became the 1st starter in MIL history to win each of his first 7 decisions in a season as he went 7-0 with a 2.41 ERA (20 ER, 74.2 IP) through 13 starts...Went 3-0 with a 1.38 ERA (5 ER, 32.2 IP) in his six April starts...Did not allow more than 2 earned runs in any of his first 9 outings…his 1.54 ERA from April 1 to May 16 led the majors...Placed on the 10-day IL with back spasms from August 5-18 (retro: Aug. 3)...His 2.77 ERA against the NL West was his lowest against any division in which he made multiple starts in 2019, ahead of his 3.00 ERA against the NL East...Relied primarily on 5 pitches: sinker (52.6%), changeup (31.2%), cutter (11.8%), curve (3.6%) and slider (0.7%). 

2018

Went 2-7 with a 4.77 ERA in 13 starts with Milwaukee...The Brewers went 5-8 in his starts... Produced 3 quality starts... Was on the 10-day disabled list twice with right rotator cuff inflammation.....his DL stints came from 5/3-5/23, retroactive to 4/30, and 6/1-8/23, retroactive to 5/30... Was not on the NLDS roster.....was added to the NLCS roster on 10/17 (Gio Gonzalez injury)... Made his only postseason appearance in Game 5 of the NLCS at Los Angeles (1ip, 1h, 1k)... Signed a 1-year contract on 1/11/19, avoiding arbitration.

2017

Made his first career Opening Day roster...Went 17-9 with a 3.90 ERA in 33 starts.....led the team in wins for the second straight season... Became the 10th pitcher (12x) in franchise history to produce at least 17 wins in a season... His 17 wins tied the D-backs' Zack Greinke for second in the National League, trailing only the Dodgers' Clayton Kershaw (18)... His 33 starts tied for the NL lead (with three others) and 191.1 innings pitched ranked ninth... Was a finalist for a Gold Glove Award along with the Diamondbacks' Zack Greinke (winner) and Braves' R.A. Dickey... The Brewers went 20-13 in his starts... Had 15 quality starts, going 10-3 with a 1.44 ERA in those starts (100.1ip, 16er)...Went 7-4 with a 5.40 ERA over his first 15 starts (78.1ip, 47er) and 10-5 with a 2.87 ERA over his last 18 starts (113ip, 36er)... Went 9-2 with a 2.04 ERA in 16 road starts (97ip, 22er).....ranked fourth in the NL in road ERA... Began the season at Triple-A Colorado Springs, where he made 2 starts• Was recalled by Milwaukee on 4/17...Went 11-7 with a 3.97 ERA in 28 starts during his first full Major League season...Led the team in wins and tied for second among Major League rookies in that category...Produced a team-leading 15 quality starts...The team went 15-13 in his starts ...Went 0-3 with an 8.78 ERA over his first 3 starts (13.1ip, 13er) and 11-4 with a 3.54 ERA over his last 25 starts (150ip, 59er)...Tossed 10.0 consecutive hitless innings from 6/1-6/7 (vs. St. Louis and vs. Oakland)...Threw 6.2 no-hit innings on 6/7 vs. Oakland.....no-hitter broken on a 2-run homer by Billy Butler...Retired 17 consecutive batters in a 5-3 victory on 6/12 vs. New York-NL...Notched a career-high 9 strikeouts on 6/1 vs. St. Louis (W), 6/24 vs. Washington (ND) and 8/29 vs. St. Louis (ND)...Was named Brewers Pitcher of the Month for June (6gs, 3-1, 2.89era, 37.1ip, 39k)

2015

Entered 2015 as the sixth-best prospect in the Orioles organization according to Baseball America…Began the season at Triple-A Norfolk and went 5-6 with a 2.84 ERA in 19 games (18 starts)…Was traded to Milwaukee in exchange for OF Gerardo Parra on 7/31…Went 1-2 with a 5.00 ERA in 5 starts at Triple-A Colorado Springs.....contract selected on 9/1…Went 3-2 with 3.71 ERA in 6 starts with the Brewers.....opponents batted just .211…Had 4 quality starts, including 3 in a row to end the season.....the team went 4-2 in his starts…Made his Major League debut on 9/2 vs. Pittsburgh and received no decision in the Brewers' 9-4 win (4.1ip, 4h, 4r, 4er, 3bb, 3k, 1hr).....his fi rst career strikeout was Jung Ho Kang…Earned his first Major League victory in a 9-1 win on 9/7 at Miami (7ip, 4h, 1r, 1er, 0bb, 4k)…Was named Brewers Pitcher of the Month for September/October…Ended the season on a 15.0-inning scoreless streak…His changeup was rated as the best in the organization by Baseball America entering 2016.
