Graduated from Mansfield (TX) Legacy High School, where he was a teammate of Noah Syndergaard...as a freshman attended Texas Christian University, then pitched at Weatherford (TX) College, located near Fort Worth...in his only season at Weatherford, in 2014, went 7-6, 2.88 and led the team with 84.1 innings pitched...his father, Tony, played football and baseball at the University of Oklahoma and was a member of the Sooners¡¯ 1975 national championship football team.

Began the season on the 60-day injured list recovering from August 2021 "Tommy John" surgery to repair the torn ulnar collateral ligament in his right elbow...From 7/25-8/30 went 0-0, 4.73 in 14 rehabilitation apps, including two starts, for the ACL Reds and Class AAA Louisville (13.1ip, 15h, 7er, 5bb, 13k, 2hr)¡After he was reinstated from the 60-day IL on 9/1, made all five of his appearances for the Reds, including one spot start, before he left the game on 9/13 at Detroit with right elbow discomfort...On 9/14 returned to the 15-day injured list...On 9/15 was diagnosed with right elbow tendinitis and didn't pitch again the rest of the season...In the eighth inning of the 2-1 walk-off win on 9/2 vs Cubs made his first appearance for the Reds since 8/24/21 at Milwaukee...threw a scoreless inning to keep the deficit at 1-0...In the 6-3 win on 9/4 vs Sea retired all six batters in his fifth career start, his first since his 2020 Major League debut season...was the third of three "openers" used by the Reds this season (Derek Law three times, Fernando Cruz twice)¡Did not pitch for the Reds in 2023 Spring Training...On 2023 Opening Day went on the 60-day injured list.

Ranked among Florida State League leaders in wins (1st), starts (T1st), innings pitched (2nd) and ERA (10th)...ranked among Reds minor league leaders in wins (T1st) and ERA (3.45, 4th)...was promoted to Louisville on 9/2...the next day at Indianapolis made his Class AAA debut and suffered the loss despite allowing just 1 run over 5.0 innings (3h, 3bb, 5k).

Was a Midwest League All-Star and the Reds' Minor League Pitcher of the Month for May (6gs, 2-2, 1.80)...led all minor league pitchers by inducing 26 GIDPs...his 2.91 ERA ranked seventh among all Reds farmhands and 10th in the MWL...his 158.0 innings pitched were second-most in the Midwest League.
