Grew up in Thousand Oaks, CA...Graduated from Newbury Park High School in Thousand Oaks. Belinda Carlisle, lead singer of the Go-Go's, and actress Heather Locklear are also famous alumni from Newbury Park High School...Father, Brad, coached men’s golf at UCLA for 7 seasons from 1996-2002, and was an All-American golfer for the Bruins in 1978. His most famous pupil was Travis Mathew Johnson (1999-2002), the founder of the men's clothing brand "Travis Mathew."...Attended the University of Oregon and owns the Ducks’ single season (21 in 2013) and career (40) saves records. His 93 strikeouts in 2012 rank third all-time in school history. Sherfy was a 2013 National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association (NCBWA) First-Team All-American and a 2012-13 First-Team All-Pac 12 selection. Also was a 2012-13 NCBWA Stopper of the Year Finalist.

2020

Did not play due to the COVID-19 pandemic. However, he was part of the Diamondbacks 60-man player pool before being released on Aug. 19.

Went 1-0 with 1 save, a 5.89 ERA (12 ER in 18.1 IP) and 22 strikeouts in 17 games over 4 stints with Arizona... Averaged 10.80 strikeouts per 9.0 innings, up from 9.37 in 2018... Posted a 0.77 ERA (1 ER in 11.2 IP) in his fi rst 7 appearances... Allowed just 1 of 12 inherited runners to score (8.3 pct.)...Was 2-3 with 12 saves, a 3.60 ERA (14 ER in 35.0 IP) and 49 strikeouts in 35 games with Triple-A Reno... Named a Pacific Coast League midseason All-Star and was named the PCL's Best Reliever by Baseball America.

2018

Posted a 1.65 ERA with 17 strikeouts and a .145 opponent average in 15 games over 3 stints with the D-backs...Limited righties to a .129 average (4-for-31) with 12 strikeouts...Held opponents hitless in their last 20 plate appearances...Spent the majority of the season with Triple-A Reno, going 5-1 with a 1.60 ERA and 15 saves in 38 games...Led all D-backs Minor Leaguers and tied for fourth-most saves (15) in the Pacific Coast League.

2017

Went 2-0 with 2 saves, a 0.00 ERA (10.2 IP) and 9 strikeouts in 11 games over 2 stints with the D-backs during his first Major League season...Named the D-backs' Rookie of the Year by the Arizona Chapter of the Baseball Writers Association of America...Tied a Major League record by not allowing a baserunner in his first 4 appearances (9x, last: Miguel Diaz in 2017)...Named a Pacific Coast League midseason All-Star and was 2-1 with 20 saves, a 3.12 ERA and 61 strikeouts in 44 games with Reno...Selected to Baseball America's Triple-A All-Star Team and was rated the Best Reliever in the PCL. Tallied 30 saves with a 2.77 ERA (17 ER in 55.1 IP) and 79 strikeouts in 47 games between Single-A Adv. Visalia, Double-A Mobile and Triple-A Reno...Tied for the second-most saves in the Minor Leagues…also ranked among the league leaders in saves in the following leagues: Southern (8th, 10), California (T-9th, 8) and Pacifi c Coast (T-9th, 12)...Named to the Southern League midseason All-Star Team...Averaged 12.8 strikeouts per 9.0 IP…opponents hit .168, including a .135 average vs. righties...Earned Pitcher-of-the-Month honors with Visalia in April and May, and with Reno in July...Converted 25 straight saves to begin the season...30 of his fi rst 31 appearances were scoreless (0.25 ERA; 1 ER in 36.0 IP)...Yielded just 1 hit over an 11-game span from May 27-June 30 (43 AB)...Ranked by MLB.com as the D-backs' No. 15 prospect following the season.

Split the season between Visalia and Mobile, going 5-1 with 7 saves, a 4.78 ERA (25 ER in 49.0 IP) and 68 strikeouts in 48 relief appearances...Posted a 0.93 ERA (1 ER in 9.1 IP) in 9 games for Salt River in the Arizona Fall League...Rated as Arizona's No. 15 prospect by Baseball America entering the season.

2013

Posted a 1.04 ERA (2 ER in 17.1 IP), 7 saves and 29 strikeouts with Short-Season A Hillsboro and Single-A Kane County...Began his career with 12 scoreless outings (12.0 IP).
