Josh resides in Peoria, Ariz. .. He recorded voicemails for Sox auction winners in 2021…he also participated in the Red Sox Holiday Caravan in December 2019, visiting patients at Boston’s Children’s Hospital, The Jimmy Fund, Shriners Hospital for Children, MassGeneral Hospital for Children, Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center and The BASE...The Red Sox Scout who signed Taylor, Scott Noworyta, is the father of Royals Triple-A Bench Coach, David Noworyta... Taylor attended Georgia College and State University in 2014 and Scottsdale Community College from 2012-13, when he led the Artichokes to the National Junior College World Series both seasons...He graduated in 2011 from Centennial HS (Ariz.), where he won the team’s Cy Young Award three times and was named MVP once.

2023

Began the 2023 season with Triple-A Omaha and was recalled on April 16…his Royals debut came that night vs. Atlanta to mark his first Major League appearance since Sept. 22, 2021 with Boston, 571 days prior...The HR he allowed to Christian Yelich on May 13 was his first allowed to a left-handed batter since Rowdy Tellez took him deep on Sept. 10, 2019—four years prior—snapping a stretch of 110 at-bats in 76 appearances...He suffered left shoulder impingement syndrome on May 27 and missed the last 109 games of the year.

2022

Taylor missed the entire 2022 season due to a low back strain…he did not pitch in Spring Training, and was placed on the 15-day IL on April 4, then transferred to the 60-day IL on May 12....He went on two rehab assignments, the first from April 17-27 and the second from June 21-July 12…he made 13 appearances (7) starts and allowed 10 runs (8 ER) on 20 hits in 12.0 innings.

2021

Made his first career Opening Day roster and set career highs in appearances (61) and innings (47.2)...Missed 16 games due to three IL stints... Allowed one XBH to his 90 LHH faced (double), holding them to a .146 AVG/.381 OPS (12-for-82, 7 BB, 28 SO).....After the All-Star break, allowed only one hit (single) to his 36 lefties faced (1-for-30, 6 BB, 10 SO)... Set the Red Sox franchise record for most consecutive scoreless appearances by a LHP (26), the 2nd-longest streak ever by any Sox pitcher... His 26-game scoreless streak was tied for the 2nd.longest by any pitcher in 2021 (Sadler-28, Chafin-26)... In 32 road games, posted a 1.14 ERA and .207 opponent AVG (23.2 IP, 3 ER, 18 H)...In 29 home games, had a 5.63 ERA and .281 opponent AVG (24.0 IP, 15 ER, 27 H)...Allowed six ER on 10 hits over 3.0 IP in his first three outings... In his remaining 25 appearances after the streak was snapped (beginning 7/17), posted a 2.60 ERA (5 ER/17.1 IP)... POSTSEASON: Reinstated from the IL on 10/4 and was part of each of the Sox’ Postseason rosters...Appeared in six games (3 in the ALDS, 3 in the ALCS) and allowed one run over 4.0 IP, with 4 hits and 0 walks allowed (2 SO)... Made his Postseason debut in Game 1 of the ALDS at TB (0.1 IP)...Retired his lone batter faced after Randy Arozarena stole home with two outs in the seventh inning... In the Sox’ ALDS-clinching win over the Rays (Game 4), earned a hold by throwing a perfect seventh inning (1 SO).

2020

Missed 40 games due to two stints on the injured list...Placed on the IL on 7/15 and missed the Sox’s first 22 games...Reinstated on 8/17 and threw a perfect sixth inning that night at NYY...Allowed zero hits and zero runs in three consecutive appearances from 8/30-9/4...Placed on the IL on 9/11 (retroactive to 9/8) with left shoulder tendinitis and missed the remainder of the season.

2019

Split the season between the ARI and BOS organizations in his 1st full season as a reliever ... Went 3-7 with 13 saves, 60 SO, and a 3.35 ERA (20 ER/53.2 IP) in 48 appearances ... Allowed only 3 XBH (all doubles) to the 100 left-handed hitters faced between the regular season and the Arizona Fall League, as lefties hit .224 and slugged .259 against him (19-for-85, 3 2B, 12 BB, 38 SO, 1 SF, 2 SH) ... Surrendered 2 HR in the regular season (0.34 HR/9.0 IP) ... Began the season with High-A Visalia and allowed 0 runs in 10 of his 14 outings ... Acquired by BOS on 5/15, completing the 3/24 trade for INF Deven Marrero ... Assigned to Double-A Portland ...
