Full name is Demarcus Malik Evans…was a Class 6-A Second Team All-State selection as a senior at Petal (Miss.) High School…named a 2015 Perfect Game Honorable Mention All-American Southeast – All-Region First Team…chosen as one of The Clarion-Ledger’s 2015 baseball Dandy Dozen…high school program has produced big leaguers Nate Rolison and Evans’ cousin, Anthony Alford…mother played basketball at Pearl River CC…had multiple Division I offers to play baseball and had committed to Hinds Community College prior to signing with Texas…also received football offers from Peral River CC and Jones County CC.

2022

Spent the entire season with Triple-A Round Rock, going 2-3 with four saves and a 3.82 ERA (33.0IP, 22H, 15R/14ER, 22BB, 44K, 4HR) in 32 relief outings…recorded a scoreless outing in eight of his final nine appearances of the season, going 1-0 with three saves and a 1.13 ERA (8.0IP, 3H, 1ER, 4BB, 10K, 1HR) in that stretch.

2021

Split the campaign between the Major Leagues with Texas (25 G), Triple-A Round Rock (18 G), and the Alternate Training Site…had four stints with the Rangers: 5/25-6/22, 7/18, 7/20-8/1, 8/4-9/9…his 11.28 strikeouts per 9.0 innings figure was highest among Texas pitchers (min. 25.0 IP)… opponents batted .238 (24-101), including a .177 (11-62) mark by right-handed hitters…career-high 4 K’s on 5/25 at LAA…at Triple-A, went 2-0 with a 3.74 ERA (10 ER/21.2 IP) in 18 relief appearances, striking out 31 of 90 (34.4%) batters faced and holding opponents to a .154 BA (12-78)…did not see official Cactus League action during spring training due to right lat strain that slowed his offseason throwing program, and was assigned to the Alternate Training Site at the outset of the regular season before joining the Express for the start of the minor league campaign in early May…rated by Baseball America as the organization’s no. 22 prospect.

2020

Evans made four relief appearances (4.0 IP) for the Rangers in his 1st Major League action, putting forth scoreless efforts in three of four games while striking out four of 14 batters faced with no walks…was in Major League spring training camp and worked 5.1 scoreless innings during Cactus League play before camp was shut down in March…he later participated in the club’s Summer Camp in July as a member of the club’s initial 60-man Player Pool, was assigned to the Alternate Training Site on 7/19 in the lead-up to Opening Day, and remained at the Alternate Site until he was recalled by Texas on 9/15…made ML debut on 9/18 at LAA, allowing a HR (Albert Pujols on 2nd pitch) and HBP (Justin Upton) to 1st two batters faced before retiring final two on flyout and GIDP...did not permit a run in final 3 G/3.0 IP, which included two perfect outings to finish the year (retired all six BF w/ three K’s)...recorded 1st career strikeout (Jared Walsh) on 9/21 at LAA…was rated by Baseball America as the Rangers’ 16th-best prospect and as having the organization’s Best Fastball.

2019

Selected as organization's Minor League Reliever of the Year for the 2nd straight season…split the season between Frisco (AA) and Down East (A+), combining to go 6-0 with a 0.90 ERA (6 ER/60.0 IP) over 47 relief appearances…held Carolina League batters 9-for-71 (.127) prior to a 5/29 promotion, and was named to the circuit's mid-season All-Star team…allowed runs in just 3 of 30 G with Frisco…overall, opponents slashed .119/.266/.175/.441 (23-194) for the season with 7 XBH (5 2B, 2 HR)…his 15.00 strikeouts per 9 figure led the Texas organization and was the 2nd-highest mark in all of MiLB (min. 60.0 IP)...ranked among Texas League leaders (min. 35.0 IP) in SO/9 (2nd, 14.78), ERA (2nd, 0.96) and opp. BA (2nd, .114)… recorded at least one SO in 41 of 47 G and had multiple SO in 34 of 47 G…reached the 100-strikeout mark by whiffing his final batter faced of the season on 9/2 at Northwest Arkansas...rated as the organization's 16th-best prospect entering the year (BA).

2018

Named the organization’s Minor League Reliever of the Year at Hickory (Low-A)…had the highest SO/9 rate (16.55) of any minor league pitcher (min. 50 IP), earning a spot on the South Atlantic League post-season All-Star team... ranked among SAL relief leaders in SO/9 (1st), opponent average (2nd, .149) and fewest baserunners per 9 innings (2nd, 9.00)...held opposition to a .147/.257/.215/.471 slash line, the 10th-lowest opp. avg in MiLB...whiffed 46.9% (105 of 224) of all batters faced, the highest rate of any minor league pitcher (min. 50 IP)…went 1-1, 6.30 (7 ER/10.0 IP) in 9 G with Surprise in the Arizona Fall League and was honored as a Rising Star in the circuit.

2017

Combined to go 2-8 with a 4.53 ERA (30 ER/59.2 IP) over 20 G/14 GS with the AZL Rangers (Rookie), Spokane (Short-A), and Hickory…marked his final season working primarily as a starter.
