Full name is Jeter Deion Downs…his mother chose the name “Jeter” in honor of former Yankees shortstop and Hall of Famer Derek Jeter…graduated from Pace High School in Miami, Fla.…was ranked by Baseball America as the No. 53 draft prospect in the 2017 First-Year Player Draft.

2023

In six games with the Washington Nationals, was 2-for-5 (.400) with 4R, 1RBI and 2SB over three stints (4/11-5/3, 8/3-20, 8/24-26)…hit a “walk-off” single in the ninth inning on 8/13 vs. Oakland, his first career “walk-off” hit…batted .222 (40-for-180) with 32R, 13 doubles, one triple, 3HR, 20RBI, 37BB and 11SB in 60 combined games with Triple-A Rochester, the FCL Nationals and High-A Wilmington…was designated for assignment by the Nationals on 12/12 and claimed off waivers by the Yankees on 12/19.

2022

Was recalled on June 20 and made his Major League debut on June 22 vs. Detroit...Was optioned following the game...Enjoyed two Major League stints with Boston...Was recalled on July 9...Arrived during the game vs. New York (NL)... Recorded his first Major League hit in the game, an RBI-single in the 10th inning (Peralta) before scoring the game-winning run...Also scored the game-tying run in the eighth inning as a pinch runner... Hit his first big league home run on July 17 at New York (NL), a two-run homer off Gerrit Cole in the third inning...Appeared defensively at second base (8 G), third base (6 G) and shortstop (3 G)...Was optioned back to Triple-A Worcester on July 30.

Split the 2019 season between High-A Rancho Cucamonga (107 G) and Double-A Tulsa (12 G) and hit .276 (127-for-460) with an .888 OPS, 35 2B, 24 HR, 24 SB, 86 RBI, and 92 runs scored.
