PHILLIP STEWART DIEHL...Is a native and resident of Cincinnati...Attended Moeller High School...Played one season at Evansville (2013), one season at Wabash Valley College (2014) and two seasons (2015-2016) at Louisiana Tech...At Evansville was a teammate of LHP Kyle Freeland...While at Wabash was the 2014 Great Rivers Athletic Conference Pitcher of the Year...Helped Louisiana Tech to its first NCAA postseason appearance since 1987.

2022

Split season between the Cincinnati and New York Mets organizations, beginning the season in AAA Louisville after NRI invite to ML camp…Cincinnati native made his Reds debut on April 27 with 2.0 perfect innings vs. San Diego (2K)…Was with the Reds, Apr. 27-May 8, before being DFA’d and later outrighted back to AAA Louisville, where he was on the IL with a left shoulder strain, May 23-June 4...Was traded along with OF Tyler Naquin in exchange for a pair of Minor League players and assigned to the AAA Syracuse roster, where he spent the remainder of the season…Overall at the AAA level, he went 2-3 with a 5.90 ERA in 38 games (26ER/39.2IP/8HR, 39SO).

2021

Led all minor league pitchers with 58 apps...On 4/14 was claimed off waivers from Rockies...was optioned to the Reds' alternate training site in Louisville...Had one stint on the Reds' Taxi Squad (4/23-4/28 at StL/LAD) but spent the rest of the season at Louisville...Was designated for assignment on 5/2, when the Reds claimed off waivers from the Rockies RHP Ashton Goudeau...Two days later, cleared waivers and was outrighted to Louisville.

2020

Made six appearances across two stints on the active roster, including his first Opening Day roster...Tossed a season-high and career-high-tying 1.2 innings on Aug. 21 at Los Angeles-NL (also: Sept. 20, 2019 at Los Angeles-NL) … pitched more than one inning in three of his six outings...Allowed a career-high three runs on a career-high-tying three hits Aug. 11 vs. Arizona...Limited left-handed hitters to a .250 batting average, but allowed both of his home runs to a left-handed hitter.

2019

Acquired by Colorado from New York-AL on March 23 in exchange for outfielder Mike Tauchman, and made his Major League debut with the Rockies on June 11 vs. Chicago-NL ... Allowed two runs on three hits and one walk in his debut ... struck out Tyler Chatwood for his first Major League strikeout ... Cumulatively, made three stints with the Rockies and allowed six runs over 7.1 innings (7.36 ERA) in 10 appearances ... Struck out the side in order for the first time in his final appearance of the season, Sept. 28 in Milwaukee ... Pitched a career-high 1.2 innings Sept. 20 at Dodger Stadium, snapping a streak of three outings without recording an out while facing just one batter ... Posted a 5.22 ERA (58.2 IP, 34 ER) in 50 appearances between Double-A Hartford and Triple-A Albuquerque ... pitched 13.1 scoreless innings to begin the season with Hartford.

2018

Made a career-high 39 appearances across High-A Tampa and Double-A Trenton ... Used exclusively as a reliever after making five starts in 2017 ... pitched two or more innings in 29 of his 39 appearances ... Made 25 appearances for High-A Tampa prior to his July 13 promotion to Double-A Trenton ... Struck out 108 batters across 75.1 IP across both levels, giving him a 12.90 strikeouts-per-nine innings rate that led all Yankees Minor Leaguers.

2017

Spent the entire season with Low-A Charleston, making 28 appearances including five starts ... As a starter, went 3-2 with a 5.16 ERA (22.2 IP, 13 ER) with 11 walks and 26 strikeouts ... as a reliever, went 6-1 with a 2.44 ERA (62.2 IP, 17 ER), 15 walks and 75 strikeouts ... posted a WHIP of 1.195 ... Made his lone quality start on May 21 vs. Augusta, pitching six innings while allowing two runs on five hits with three walks and seven strikeouts.

2016

Selected by New York-AL in the 27th round of the First-Year Player Draft out of Louisiana Tech and made his professional debut with Rookie Level Pulaski ... Went 4-0 with Pulaski across 14 appearances, including one start ... in his one start, allowed one hit over five scoreless innings with no walks and seven strikeouts on Aug. 21 vs. Princeton ... Across 13 relief appearances for Pulaski, posted a 3.04 ERA (26.2 IP, 9 ER) with six walks and 31 strikeouts ... Including his start, opponents batted .197 across his 15 games with Pulaski ... Made one appearance for Short-Season Staten Island on Sept. 5, and pitched two innings while allowing one hit with seven strikeouts.
