In his first full season with the D-backs, went 5-4 with a 4.15 ERA (41 ER in 89.0.0 IP) in 17 games (16 starts). Began the season with Triple-A Reno, going 1-0 with a 6.33 ERA (15 ER in 21.1 IP) and 22 strikeouts in four starts. Recalled by the D-backs on April 24. On May 27 vs. Red Sox, retired four of the five batters faced over 1.1 scoreless innings in relief, marking his first professional career appearance out of the bullpen after a combined 66 starts between the Minors and Majors...On May 31 vs Rockies, tossed 7.0 scoreless innings for the first time in his career and tied a career high with 7 strikeouts (also: Aug. 19, 2022 vs. Cardinals)¡also allowed a career-low two hits. In his five starts in June, Arizona went 5-0 and he recorded 24 strikeouts over 27.1 innings. Walked two or fewer batters in 11 of his 16 starts. Did not pitch after July 28 after he was placed on the 15-day injured list on July 30 (left elbow inflammation)¡was transferred to the 60-day injured list on Aug. 19.
