Colin Andrew Selby... Played three years at Randolph-Macon (Va.) College (would look to become the third Randolph-Macon alum to reach the majors along with Frank Walker from 1917-25 and Paul Gilliford in 1967)… Went 18-5 with a 2.95 ERA in 30 appearances, including 28 starts, during his collegiate career... Was named an ABCA/Rawlings NCAA Division III first-team All-American and the Old Dominion Athletic Conference Pitcher-of-the-Year in 2018... Led the nation in strikeouts (126) in 2018…Helped lead Randolph-Macon to a 2018 Division III College World Series... Is the highest Pirates draft pick from a Division III school since Tony Womack in 1991 (seventh round from Guilford College)…Attended Western Branch High School, which is the same school that produced former Pirate Jimmy Anderson.

Was recalled from Triple-A Indianapolis on 8/8…Struck out three batters in 1.2 scoreless innings while making his Major League debut on 8/9 vs. Atlanta…Won his first Major League game on 8/15 at New York (NL)… Struck out all three batters he faced on 8/20 at Minnesota… Opened the game on 8/26 vs. Chicago (NL) and retired all six batters he faced (three strikeouts)…Served as the “opener” again on 8/29 at Kansas City and threw 18 pitches (12 strikes) while retiring all six batters he faced…Tossed a scoreless ninth inning and picked up his second win in 10-inning victory on 9/1 at St. Louis…Served as the “opener” for a fifth time on 9/17 vs. New York (AL) and retired six of the seven batters he faced…Struck out three of the five batters he faced on 9/27 at Philadelphia.

2023 MiLB SEASON: Began season with Indianapolis, where he went 0-0 with six saves, a 3.86 ERA (30.1ip/13er) and 41 strikeouts in 28 relief appearances…Picked up his first save on 5/4 at Toledo...Struck out two batters while recording his second save on 5/10 at St. Paul…Earned his third straight save on 5/13 at St. Paul…Was placed on the 7-day injured list on 5/19 (right shoulder discomfort)... Was activated on 6/16…Posted a 2.08 ERA (8.2ip/2er) and struck out 14 batters in eight games during the month of July…Picked up his final two saves with Indy in back-to-back outings on 7/29 vs. Louisville and 8/1 at Gwinnett.

Went a combined 2-3 with eight saves, a 2.27 ERA (35.2ip/9er), 43 strikeouts and .221 batting average against in 29 appearances (one start) between Altoona and Indianapolis…Finished fourth among Pirates minor leaguers with eight saves…Was a member of Altoona’s Opening Day roster…Picked up a save by inducing a game-ending double play with the tying run on third base on 4/12 at Richmond…Struck out a season-high five batters in 2.0 innings vs. Somerset on 5/13…Was placed on the injured list on 5/20 with a right side injury before being activated on 7/22…Retired the last five batters vs. Bowie on 7/31 while striking out the side on 10 pitches to finish the outing…Was promoted to Triple-A on 9/20, where he made three appearances to end the season…Tossed a scoreless inning in his Triple-A debut on 9/21 vs. St. Paul… Went 0-0 with one save and a 2.00 ERA (9.0ip/2er) in nine appearances while pitching for the Surprise Saguaros in the Arizona Fall League.
