Opened the year at Omaha (AAA), but was sent to Northwest Arkansas (AA) on May 12 and finished the season with the Naturals…recalled by the Royals on July 28 to serve as the 26th man for the day-night doubleheader with the Yankees, but did not pitch in either game ... Posted a 2-1 record with nine saves in 10 opportunities and a 2.15 ERA (7 ER in 29.1 IP) out of the bullpen, compared to a 0-6 mark and a 7.38 ERA (44 ER in 53.2 IP) in his 12 starts ... Six of his seven appearances with Omaha were as a starter…after making six starts at Northwest Arkansas, pitched the remainder of the season out of the bullpen ... Tied for sixth in the Texas League with his nine saves, eight of which came in a 12-appearance span (July 19- Aug. 25) ... Did not allow an earned run (1 UER) over his last 16 appearances (July 17-end of season), spanning 18.0 innings…held the opposition to a .153 batting average (10-for-65) in that span.

Spent most of the season in the minors, going 8-9 with a 4.54 ERA (56 ER in 111.0 IP) in 29 appearances (16 starts) between Wilmington (A+), Northwest Arkansas (AA) and Omaha (AAA) ... Pitched in Wilmington through mid-July-his first experience above rookie ball-going 6-7 with two saves and a 5.03 ERA (41 ER in 73.1 IP) in 21 appearances (nine starts) ... Recorded 14 strikeouts in 7.0 innings on July 1 vs. Salem in an 8-3 win ... In 2016, ranked third in the Pioneer League in strikeouts (64) and tied for sixth in starts ... Named Pioneer League Pitcher of the Week for the week of July 24, after allowing one hit over 5.0 scoreless innings in a 7-0 triumph over Missoula…also tossed 6.0 scoreless, one-hit innings on Aug. 28 vs. Ogden, but took a nodecision in a 2-1 Chukars victory.
