Blake Gerald Weiman (pronounced “WHY-min”)...Is a 2014 graduate of Columbine High School, where he was selected to the 2012, 2013 and 2014 Colorado High School Futures All-Star teams...Pitched three years (2015-17) at the University of Kansas...Went 5-1 with a 2.80 ERA?(45.0ip/14er) while leading the Kansas bullpen with 55 strikeouts in 30 relief appearances as a junior...Became the 27th player in Kansas history to be selected within the first 10 rounds of the draft...Signed by Pirates scout Matt Bimeal.

2022

Started the season with Triple-A Indianapolis with the Pittsburg system. Spent time in Double-A Arkansas going 3-0 with a 2.67 ERA (8 ER, 27.0 IP) with three walks and 26 strikeouts in 22 games.

2021

Spent entire season with Triple-A Indianapolis after attending spring training as a non-roster invitee with the Pirates...Posted a 2.05 ERA (22.0ip/5er) in 20 appearances at Victory Field...Limited left-handed hitters to a .156 batting average (10-for-64); righties hit .255 (27-for-106) against him...Posted a .174 batting average against (8-for-46) with runners in scoring position and .183 average against (13-for-71) with runners on base...Was scored upon four times in his first six appearances... Picked up his first win with 0.2 scoreless inning of work on 6/4 Columbus (game 2)...Posted a .171 batting average against (7-for-41) and 0.60 WHIP in 11.2ip in July...Was placed on the injured list on 8/10 with a left ankle injury... Went 3-0 with a 2.77 ERA (13.0ip/4er) in his final 11 games after being activated from the injured list on 8/26.

Was a non-roster invitee with the Pirates during spring training...Missed entire regular season due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

2019

Was a non-roster invitee with the Pirates during spring training...Began season in Extended Spring Training before being assigned to Double-A Altoona on 4/22...Was scored upon in just two of his 16 appearances with the Curve; gave up two unearned runs on 4/27 vs. Richmond and surrendered a walk-off grand slam while suffering loss on 5/14 at Binghamton (0.2ip)…Was promoted to Triple-A Indianapolis on 6/18...Pitched a scoreless inning in his Triple-A debut on 6/19 at Buffalo...Was scored upon in each of his next four outings (6.0ip/4er) thru 7/1...Tossed a season-high 2.1 scoreless innings on 7/4 vs. Toledo...Was on the injured list from 7/12 to 8/1 and again from 8/4 thru the end of the season due to left shoulder tendinitis...Made his last appearance on 8/3...Went 1-3 with three saves and a 2.90 ERA (31.0ip/10er) in a total of 24 minor league games.
