His father, Charlie, pitched for the Cincinnati Reds from 1979-82… according to Elias, after making his debut for the Reds in 2024, they became the seventh father-son duo to play for Cincinnati, joining Ken Griffey Sr. (1973-81; ‘88-90) and Ken Griffey Jr. (2000-08), Buddy Bell (1985-88) and Mike Bell (2000), Tony Peréz (1964-76; ‘84-86) and Eduardo Peréz (1996-98), Pete Rose (1963-78; ‘84-86) and Pete Rose Jr. (1997), Gus Bell (1953-61) and Buddy Bell (1985-88) and Gene Moore Sr. (1912) and Gene Moore Jr. (1931)… was originally selected by the Tampa Bay Rays in the 48th round of the 2011 First-Year Player Draft but did not sign.

2024

Signed with the Cincinnati Reds as a Minor League free agent on 5/24… spent the majority of the season with Triple-A Louisville, going 3-4 with a 4.41 ERA (83.2IP, 81H, 43R/41ER, 21BB, 80K, 15HR) in 17 starts… made two appearances with the Reds, posting a 9.95 ERA (6.1IP, 11H, 7R/ER, 2BB, 5K, 3HR)… had his contract selected and made his season debut on 8/29 vs. Oakland, marking his first Major League appearance since 9/5/20 at Tampa Bay with Miami… tossed a career-high-tying 4.0IP on 9/19 vs. Atlanta.

2023

Spent the season with the High Point Rockers of the Atlantic League of Professional Baseball, going 4-3 with a 3.26 ERA (60.2IP, 50H, 23R/22ER, 19BB, 53K, 8HR)…was named the ALPB “Pitcher of the Month for August…following the season, pitched for the Estrellas Orientales in the Dominican Winter League.

2022

Signed with the Chicago Cubs as a Minor League free agent on 3/12…split the season between Double-A Tennessee and Triple-A Iowa, going 4-4 with one save and a 4.67 ERA (69.1IP, 81H, 37R/36ER, 16BB, 68K, 14HR) in 21 games (eight starts)…was released on 8/5.

2021

Re-signed with the Miami Marlins as a Minor League free agent on 4/7…in 21 combined appearances (18 starts) with Double-A Pensacola and Triple-A Jacksonville, went 4-9 with one complete game and a 5.68 ERA (88.2IP, 100H, 61R/56ER, 33BB, 74K, 16HR).

2020

Was released by Philadelphia on 5/29 and signed with the Miami Marlins as a Minor League free agent on 8/10…made his Major League debut, posting a 2.00 ERA (9.0IP, 3H, 2R/ER, 7BB, 3K, 0HR) in five outings with the Marlins…made his debut on 8/23 at Washington, tossing 4.0 scoreless innings of relief (1H, 1BB, 1K)…struck out Juan Soto in the fifth inning for his first career strikeout…was placed on the 10-day injured list on 9/6 with left elbow ulnar neuritis…was transferred to the 60-day injured list on 9/13 and missed the rest of the season.

Spent the entire season with Triple-A Lehigh Valley, going 4-1 with a 1.42 ERA (50.2IP, 34H, 8R/ER, 10BB, 32K, 1HR) in 20 appearances (six starts).

2017

Began the season with Reading (AA)…Went 3-0, 1.40 ERA (4 ER, 25.2 IP) over 4 starts in June...Promoted to Lehigh Valley (AAA) on 6/26 before being transferred back to Reading on 7/25 and finally back to Lehigh Valley on 7/27...Went 4-0, 1.29 ERA (4 ER, 28.0 IP) over 5 July starts with Lehigh Valley...Combined to go 11-5, 3.62 ERA (55 ER, 136.2 IP) in 25 starts between both levels.
