A native of Missouri, Coleman was born, raised and currently resides in the state...he makes his offseason home in Mineral Point, Mo., and is originally from Potosi, which is about 70 miles southwest of St. Louis...He graduated from Potosi HS (Mo.), where he earned All-State honors as a senior in both baseball and basketball...Coleman, who is now listed at 6-foot-5, scored more than 2,300 points on the court, breaking a 45-year old school record...Went undrafted out of high school and went on to attend Missouri State from 2016-18, where as a sophomore he led the team with eight wins and posted a Missouri Valley Conference-best 106 strikeouts in 99.1 innings, leading the Bears to a conference regular season title and an NCAA Regional title...as a junior at Missouri State in 2018, he went 10-2 in 17 outings with 129 strikeouts in 102.2 innings...Selected by San Diego in the fourth round of the 2018 draft...signed by Padres scout Troy Hoerner...Spent three Minor League seasons (2018-20) in the Padres system before being traded to Kansas City in 2020...the original trade that got him to the Royals was a PTBNL and OF Edward Olivares in exchange for RHP Trevor Rosenthal, which was made near the trade deadline that season (Aug. 29)¡following the season, Coleman was named as the PTBNL...After pitching parts of three seasons with the Royals (2021-23), was acquired by Houston via trade on Dec. 6, 2023...traded for minor leaguer RHP Carlos Mateo, who played his 2023 season in rookie ball...Enters the 2024 season with just over one year of MLB service...has used one of his three option years.

Pitched in 23 games for the Royals across two stints, from Opening Day-April 13 and July 5-Aug. 22, and had career-high 8.84 ERA (18.1IP/18ER) with 21 strikeouts but also 19 walks and a .261/.438/.435 slash line (18x69, .872 OPS)¡Broke camp with the club for the second straight season and remained in the bullpen through April 12, but was optioned after allowing six runs and recording just two outs on April 10 at TEX...Made his first Major League start as the opener on Aug. 11 vs. STL, and pitched a scoreless first inning despite three walks and a hit batter...Made 32 appearances in Triple-A, where he went 1-5 with two saves, a 4.70 ERA (16ER/30.2IP), 48 strikeouts and 32 walks.

Coleman made 68 of his 69 appearances in 2022 with the Royals, falling one game shy of Scott Barlow for the team lead in appearances...His 68 appearances ranked second among rookie relievers to Oakland¡¯s Domingo Acevedo (70) and Coleman¡¯s 68.0 innings trailed only Texas¡¯ Brock Burke (82.1 IP)¡he also finished eighth among rookie relievers in ERA (2.78) and ninth in strikeouts (71)...On July 7 in Houston, he struck out Yordan Alvarez on a 100.1 mph fastball with two on in the seventh and escaped the frame without allowing a run...Had a stretch of 32 appearances from July 6-Sept. 25 in which he pitched to a 1.36 ERA (5 ER in 33.0 IP)...Finished the season with a career-best 26.0-inning homerless streak dating back to the last HR he allowed on July 1 at Yankee Stadium to Anthony Rizzo.

Spent most of the season at Double-A Northwest Arkansas and Triple-A Omaha, where he combined to go 5-1 with seven saves, a 3.28 ERA (21 ER in 57.2 IP), .186 opponent¡¯s average and 93 strikeouts (14.5 K/9) in 45 appearances...His 14.5 K/9 ranked second among Royals minor leaguers (min. 50.0 IP) behind Will Klein (15.5 K/9)...Was selected on Sept. 20 and pitched in five of the Royals¡¯ last 11 games, recording a 1.42 ERA (1 ER in 6.1 IP) and .208 opponent¡¯s average (5-for-24)...He made his big league debut on Sept. 21 in Cleveland, firing a scoreless seventh inning and touching 100.6 mph with his fastball...he averaged 98.2 mph over his 66 fastballs in the Majors, which was the highest average velocity by a Royal in 2021 (min. 50 fastballs)...Stranded all four runners that he inherited, including getting out of a bases-loaded, no-out jam in Detroit on Sept. 25, registering two strikeouts...Recorded 2.0 innings with one hit allowed in the season finale vs. Minnesota, setting career highs in innings pitched and strikeouts (3).
