Went on to attend San Jacinto (Texas) Junior College for two seasons (2000-01) before enrolling at the University of Houston, where he earned All-Conference USA honors as a shortstop and reliever with the Cougars in 2002¡was named First-Team All-American by Baseball America and Baseball Weekly and was selected to the Conference USA All-Academic Team.
