James Allin Yacabonis attended St. Joseph's University (PA) before being drafted in 2013. Lettered in baseball and basketball in high school at Christian Brothers Academy (NJ). His grandfather played baseball professionally in Cuba. Had the highest grade-point average on his high school baseball team all four years. Was a MiLB.com Organizational All-Star with Baltimore in 2017.

2022

Appeared in 14 Major League games (one start) between Miami and Tampa Bay, going 1-1 with an 8.36 ERA (13 earned runs/14.0 innings).

2021

Pitched the entire 2021 season for Seattle’s Triple-A Tacoma. Went 4-0 with a 2.17 ERA in 30 games (37.1 innings). Converted six of eight save opportunities. 

2020

Appeared in 2 games (1 start) for Seattle in 2020…allowed 1 run over 2.1 IP (3.86 ERA) on 2 hits and 3 walks with 1 strikeout...made his Mariners debut on Sept. 9 at San Francisco with a scoreless 8th inning...got the nod to start in Game Two of the doubleheader vs. Oakland on Sept. 14…allowed 1 run on 2 hits over 1.1 IP but was handed the loss in a 0-9 loss...was acquired from San Diego in exchange for cash considerations in a minor league trade on Aug. 19…selected from the alternate training site on Sept. 9…designated for assignment on Sept. 15…outrighted to the alternate training site on Sept. 17.

2019

Split the season between Norfolk (AAA) and BAL, making his 1st-career Opening Day roster...Went 0-1 with a 7.04 ERA (6 ER, 7.2 IP) in 4 starts, with the big league club, going 2-2 in his starts…pitched to a 1-1 record with a 6.75 ERA (25 ER, 33.1 IP) in 25 relief outings...Made 3 separate stints with the Orioles throughout the season, appearing in 17 games with NOR and posting a 6.80 ERA (31 ER, 41.0 IP)...Gave up a career-high 9 HR while also posting a careerhigh .307 opponent AVG...His 9 appearances finished ranked 6th among Norfolk pitchers. 

2018

Made the start on 9/30 vs. HOU and was part of the 41st one-hitter (eighth combined one- hitter) in Orioles history (4.0 IP, 1 H, 2 BB, 1 K)... Had seven stints with the Major League club, including three as the 26th man for a doubleheader...Appeared in five of the O's six doubleheaders on the season...Was the only Orioles starter with a team winning percentage in his starts (minimum two starts)...Eight of his 12 appearances came against AL East opponents, including five of his seven starts...In six appearances (three starts) after his recall on 9/3, he posted a 2.61 ERA (6 ER/20.2 IP)...Allowed just one earned run over his final three outings (all starts), spanning 11.1 innings (0.79 ERA)... Held opponents to a .190 batting average (8-for-42) in 48 plate appearances with runners in scoring position (5 BB, 1 HBP)...Posted a 1.80 ERA (3 ER/15.0 IP) in innings one and two, limiting opponents to a .132 average (7-for-53) in those two frames, as opposed to posting a 7.92 ERA (22 ER/25.0 IP) in innings three through seven...Held right-handed batters to a .220 (20-for-91) batting average...Made 20 starts for Triple-A Norfolk, going 3-4 with a 3.93 ERA (32 ER/73.1 IP).

2017

Spent most of the season with Triple-A Norfolk around three stints with the Major League club...Made 14 appearances for the Orioles, going 2-0 with a 4.35 ERA (10 ER/20.2 IP)...Went 4-0 with 11 saves and a 1.32 ERA (9 ER/61.1 IP) and 48 strikeouts in 41 games with the Tides this season...While with Norfolk, held hitters to a .144 average...Posted a 1.36 ERA (6 ER/39.2 IP) in 28 appearances prior to the Triple-A All-Star break...Named an International League Mid-Season All-Star and a 2017 Organizational All-Star by MiLB.com...Threw 16.2 scoreless innings in his first 13 appearances this season with Triple-A Norfolk...Had his contract selected on 6/11 and made his Major League debut that day at NYY, working 1.0 inning, allowing four runs on two hits with two walks and a strikeout...Struck out Chris Carter to lead off the bottom of the seventh inning, the first batter faced in his Major League debut...Recalled from Triple-A Norfolk on 9/1 when the rosters expanded...Earned his first career win on 9/1 vs. TOR after tossing 1.0 scoreless inning with a walk...Earned his second win in his next game on 9/3 vs. TOR, tossing 2.0 innings with one walk and one strikeout...Entered 2017 ranked as the No. 22 Orioles prospect, according to Baseball America.

2016

Began the season with Class A-Advanced Frederick...Posted an eight-game scoreless streak (8.1 IP) from 5/1-25, his final eight appearances with the Keys before being promoted to Double-A Bowie...Debuted with the Baysox on 5/31 and remained there for the rest of the season...Did not surrender a run over 11 consecutive relief appearances (14.2 IP) with 14 strikeouts from 7/6-8/1...Pitching for the Baysox, held right-handed hitters to a .202 batting average (20-for-99)...In 15 home games with Bowie, went 1-2 with two saves, a 0.92 ERA (2 ER/19.2 IP), and 21 strikeouts...Following the season, posted an 8.53 ERA (12 ER/12.2 IP) with 13 strikeouts in 12 games for the Peoria Javelinas of the Arizona Fall League.

2015

Led the Carolina League with nine holds and ranked first among qualifying CL relievers with a 9.48 strikeout per 9.0 IP ratio...Struck out a season-high five batters on 5/20 at Myrtle Beach (1.2 IP)...18 of his 43 appearances with Frederick were multi-strikeout games...Made 20 outings in which he worked more than an inning, including four games with at least 3.0 innings of relief...Logged a six-game scoreless streak (9.2 IP) from 7/11-25...Posted a 2.48 ERA (8 ER/29.0 IP) in 22 home games.

2014

Began the season without allowing a run in his first 19 appearances (24.0 IP)...Named a South Atlantic League Mid- Season All-Star...Finished third in the SAL with 14 saves, despite being promoted at the All-Star break...All three runs allowed with Class-A Delmarva came on 6/10, his only loss with the Shorebirds (0.1 IP, 2 H, 3 ER, 2 BB)...Held right-handed hitters to a .100 clip (5-for-50)...With Delmarva, held opponents to a .037 batting average (1-for-27) with RISP.

2013

Converted his first professional save opportunity on 6/27, tossing 2.1 innings with two strikeouts...Earned his first professional win on 7/17, tossing 2.0 perfect innings and striking out four of six batters faced...Named a New York-Penn League Mid-Season All-Star.
