Kyle set career highs in starts, innings, strikeouts and quality starts (14), spending the entire season in the Royals rotation for the first time in his career...Struggled with control, walking 80 which ranked as the fifth-most in the A.L. and the 12th-most in baseball...Pitched well with 2 outs, holding opponents to a .226 mark (49-for-217) and was even better with 2 outs and runners in scoring position, as hitters batted .212 (14-for-66). ...Posted his third career complete game and second of the 8.0-inning variety in a 4-2 loss to the Tigers at Comerica Park on September 22.
2009
Opened the season as the Royals No. 3 starter and had an up-and-down year, finding himself in Omaha (AAA) for a month and a half...Had very good numbers away from home, going 4-3 with a 2.66 ERA in 11 starts...the 2.66 ERA was the seventh-best in baseball and third in the American League among pitchers who made at least 10 road starts... his .203 opponent batting average on the road trailed only the Cardinals' Chris Carpenter, who posted a .198 average against...the .203 road average is the best among Royals starters since David Cone held opponents to a .198 average in 1993...Struggled with control, issuing 66 walks in 123.0 innings, a rate of 4.83 walks per 9.0 innings, the fi fth-highest in baseball (min. 100 IP) and second-highest in the A.L...walked 5 or more in 5 starts and issued at least 1 free pass in each of his 22 starts on the year...Made 11 starts in which he struck out 4 or more batters, posting a 4-4 record and a 3.55 ERA...in his 11 starts in which he did not reach 4 strikeouts, he was 4-5 with a 7.26 ERA...Experienced much more success in the day, posting a 3.09 ERA in 9 day starts and a 7.05 ERA in 13 night outings...Optioned to Omaha on June 20...made 8 starts for the O-Royals, including being named PCL Pitcher of the Week for June 22-28...recalled from Omaha on August 5...After experiencing a tough fi rst start upon his recall from Omaha (3.2 IP, 8 ER in 11-6 loss to Seattle on August 5), was 5-1 with a 2.95 ERA in his fi nal 7 starts of the season, allowing 13 earned runs and 33 hits in 39.2 innings...recorded a new career-long winning streak by earning the victory in each of his fi nal 4 starts from August 27-September 13, posting a 1.57 ERA (23.0 IP, 4 ER) over that span...Coupled with September of 2008, in which he was 4-1 with a 2.27 ERA (31.2 IP, 8 ER), Kyle is now 7-1 with a 1.85 ERA (48.2 IP, 10 ER) over his last two Septembers...After tossing 6.0 shutout innings and allowing just 1 hit in a 7-0 win at Cleveland on September 13, was shut down for the remainder of the season with tightness in the back of his right shoulder.
2008
Made 21 starts for the Royals and turned it on down the stretch to become a reliable contributor in the KC rotation...posted a 6-6 record and a 3.66 ERA (64 IP, 26 ER) in 12 starts following the All-Star break...Set career bests in wins (9) and ERA (4.07)...He battled back to the Majors by becoming the staff ace at Omaha (AAA), where he began 2008, going 6-2 with a Pacifi c Coast League-leading 2.06 ERA, holding opponents to a .228 mark against him...Recalled from Omaha on May 31 and made his 2008 debut that night against the Indians...Kyle halted a couple of extended team victory droughts during his stint with the big league club...his fi rst assignment of the year with KC on May 31 came with Royals in the throes of a 12-game slide, but his 5.0 innings of 1-run work earned him a streak-halting 4-2 win...his second start was in Yankee Stadium on June 6 as Kansas City was in an 11-game road drought, but K.D. gave up just a run in 6.2 frames of a 2-1 win...Won his fi rst 3 decisions (with 1 no decision), allowing single runs in each of his fi rst 4 starts, posting a 1.46 ERA (24.2 IP, 4 ER)...Had an abbreviated stay at AAA, going to Omaha on August 15, then returning to the big league club a week later after the disablement of Ron Mahay...Davies made a brief appearance for the O-Royals on August 19, tossing a scoreless inning at Oklahoma, walking 1 and striking out 1...Went 4-1 in September, posting a 2.27 ERA (31.2 IP, 8 ER)...joined teammates Zack Greinke and Gil Meche with 5 others to lead the A.L. in wins...his 2.27 ERA was the seventh-best in the A.L...Tossed arguably his best game as a Major Leaguer, shutting out the Mariners, 3-0, on September 15...he held the Mariners to 4 hits through a season-high 8.0 innings, not issuing a walk for the just the third start of his career (fi rst time since April 13, 2006 vs. Philadelphia)...equaled a career high (3rd time) with 8 strikeouts...Finished the season strong, going 3-0 with a 1.29 ERA (21.0 IP, 11 H, 3 ER, 3 BB, 19 SO) over his fi nal 3 starts, 2 of which came against the White Sox and Twins, who were battling it out for the A.L. Central title.
2007
Joined the Royals on July 31 after being acquired from the Atlanta Braves for right-handed pitcher Octavio Dotel...Prior to joining KC, was 4-8 with a 5.76 ERA (86 IP, 92 H, 55 ER) in 17 starts for the Braves...Was 3-7 for the Royals with a 6.66 ERA (50 IP, 63 H, 37 ER) in 11 starts...Issued at least 1 walk in all 28 starts in 2007, including 26 in his 11 starts for the Royals...Pitched into the seventh inning just once in his 11 KC starts and allowed at least 4 runs in 5 of the 11 starts...Made his Royals debut on Aug. 4 at New York, allowing 5 runs on 6 hits in 3 innings in a no decision...allowed Alex Rodriguez' 500th career home run in the first inning...Earned a win in his Kauffman Stadium debut on Aug. 9 vs. Minnesota, tossing 6.2 shutout innings in a 1-0 win...allowed 3 hits while walking 2 and striking out 5...Lost three straight from Aug. 14-25 and again from Sept. 5-17.
2006
Struggled through an injury-shortened sophomore season and went 3-7 with an 8.38 ERA...Severely strained his right groin on 5/15 vs. FLA and was placed on the 15-day disabled list on 5/17...Underwent surgery to repair his torn groin in a procedure performed by Dr. Bill Meyers on 5/19 in Philadelphia. Was transferred to the 60-day DL on 5/20 and missed a total of 94 team games before he was activated from the 60-day DL on 9/1...Went 2-3 with a 6.12 ERA in eight starts before his injury, and just 1-4, 13.06 in six September starts after his return...Allowed career highs of nine runs and 12 hits and lasted just 2.1 innings in his start at COL on 9/23, as the Braves lost 10-9...On 9/18 at WSH, collected his first win since 4/30, allowing one run on four hits in 5.0 IP in a 6-1 victory...It marked the first time since 4/18 he allowed fewer than three earned runs...Had ND in a 6-5 loss to PHI in G1 on 9/13. Kyle was spotted a 5-0 lead but allowed three runs in the third inning and was removed after 2.2 IP...Took the loss in his second start since coming off the DL, allowing six runs on seven hits in five innings in an 8-0 loss at NYM on 9/6. He walked a season-high four batters for the third time.
2005
Rookie made 14 starts and 21 appearances for the Braves...Was one of five Braves rookies in 2005 who hailed from the Atlanta area...His first-inning ERA as a starter was 7.71 (12 ER/14 IP). His ERA the rest of his innings as a starter was 3.82 (30 ER/70.2 IP)...Atlanta went 7-7 in Kyle's 14 starts...Was Richmond's opening day starter vs. BUF on 4/8 (ND in 5-4 W)...Posted a 5-2 overall record in three stints at Triple-A. Over his final five starts at Richmond (AAA), he was 3-1 with a 1.50 ERA (5 ER/30.0 IP)...Had a fine April, going 2-0 with a 1.67 ERA in five starts...Was recalled from Richmond (AAA) on 5/21 and made his Major League debut that night with a 7-5 win at Boston. Kyle tossed 5.0 shutout innings, allowing four hits and three walks while fanning six batters. His first career strikeout victim was David Ortiz (called) in the first inning. Boston's 2-6 hitters (E. Renteria, D. Ortiz, M. Ramirez, T. Nixon and J. Varitek) went a combined 1-for-12 off Kyle...Became the first Braves pitcher to win his ML debut as a starter since David Nied in 1992 at New York...Became the first Braves rookie starting pitcher to record wins in each of his first two career starts since Armando Reynoso 8/11-16/91...Began his career with 14.0 IP scoreless innings pitched - the most by a Braves rookie starting pitcher to open his career since Larry McWilliams (14.1 IP) in 1978...Went 5.1 scoreless innings vs. NYM on 5/25, pitching on three days' rest. Allowed five hits while fanning six in a 3-0 Atlanta shutout...Suffered first career loss on 5/30 at WSH in a 3-2 Nationals win...Pitched a career-high 7.2 innings, but got a ND in a 1-0 win at PIT on 6/4. Kyle allowed six hits and four walks, but worked out of several jams before making his exit with two outs in the eighth inning. Collected his first career hit with a third-inning single to center off Mark Redman...On 6/10 vs. OAK, he and battery-mate Brian McCann became the youngest pitcher-catcher duo to start a game in the majors since New York's Dwight Gooden (19) and John Gibbons (21) on 8/19/84 vs. MON...Was roughed up at TEX on 6/15, when he went a season-low 2.1 innings, allowing a six runs on eight hits and four walks in a 9-5 Rangers win. Five of the six Ranger runs came in the first inning...Notched his fourth win with a 4-0 tally against Chicago on 7/4. Kyle pitched 6.2 innings and allowed four hits and four walks...Suffered a 9-6 loss to Ben Sheets and the Brewers on 7/9. Allowed four runs on five hits in 5.0 IP...Was recalled from Richmond on 7/30 and posted his fifth win against PIT, 9-6. Allowed three first-inning runs, but retired 16 of his final 18 batters he faced. Fanned a career-high eight batters in 6.0 IP...Made three starts and 10 appearances after his 7/20 recall from Richmond...Suffered the loss in his last start, 9/28 vs. COL, allowing five runs (two earned) in 5.2 IP.

Pitched at three different levels, setting career highs in wins (13) and strikeouts (173)...Ranked in the top 10 in six different pitching categories among all Braves minor leaguers, including wins (T2, 13), innings pitched (5th, 142.1), strikeouts (1st, 173), ERA (6th, 2.72), WHIP (4th, 1.10) and opposing batting average (4th, .204)...Named as the Phil Niekro Award winner as the top pitcher in the Braves' system by the 400 Club...Was selected to the Baseball America's minor league All-Star 2nd team and also named as the eighth-best prospect in the Southern League and fifth-best prospect in the Carolina League by Baseball America...Earned Most Valuable Pitcher honors for the Myrtle Beach (A) Pelicans, collecting nine victories in 14 games started and posting a 2.63 ERA ...Selected Carolina League April and June Pitcher of the Month and honored as the Southern League August Pitcher of the Month...Was named Southern League Pitcher of the Week for the week ending 7/1.
