Another steady season for the second baseman, batting .271 with 21 doubles and a career-high 55 RBI and 13 home runs...teamed with Tom Goodwin on April 5 vs. Arizona to hit the first back-to-back home runs by Dodgers leading off a game in franchise history...had his second career two-homer game on April 6 vs. San Francisco in the Dodgers' 10-1 win...also had two home runs in a game on May 13, 1998 at San Francisco...had a two-run home run and a two-run double to tie a career high with four RBI on April 7 vs. San Francisco (third time)...homered in a career-best four-straight games from April 5-8 and began the season 10-for-28 (.357) with five home runs and eight RBI in the team's first seven games...hit in nine straight games from April 11-21, batting .361 (13-for-36)...also had an eight-game hitting streak from May 8-16 in which he batted .424 (14-for-33) with two home runs and six RBI...had at least one hit in 95 of 131 starts (73 percent), including 40 multi-hit games...hit his first career grand slam home run and tied his career RBI-high with four (fourth time) on June 1 at Houston...hit game-winning single in the bottom of the 10th to drive in the winning run in the Dodgers' 2-1 win vs. Anaheim on June 9...had a 13-game hitting streak from May 29-June 11 when he batted .309 (17-for-55)...on the 15-day disabled list from June 12-27 with a sprained left ankle...surpassed his previous best home run mark (10 in 1998) with his 11th home run on Sept. 2 vs. St. Louis...was tough in the clutch as he batted .320 (64-for-200) with men on base and .333 (30-for-90) with runners in scoring position...feasted on Giants' pitching, hitting at a .339 clip (20-for-59) with four home runs and 11 RBI...led the Dodgers and was tied for 10th in the National League by being hit by a pitch 11 times...had just one error in his first 43 games and one in a 34-game stretch from July 8-Aug. 18...finished with a .984 fielding percentage...matched a career low with just 10 errors...
