2007

Missed the entire 2007 season after being placed on the disabled list on 3/30 (retroactive to 3/23) with a strained left oblique. While on the disabled list, it was discovered by Dr. Dave Altcheck during an examination in New York on 4/9 that he had a torn flexor tendon in his left elbow. Surgery was performed on 4/10 and he was transferred to the 60-day disabled list on 4/14. Made one start for Navojoa of the Mexican Winter League on 11/22 and fanned one and allowed a hit in 1.0 IP before leaving due to an injured right hamstring.

2006

Missed the entire 2006 season while rehabilitating from "Tommy John" surgery, performed by Dr. Dave Altcheck in New York on Sept. 26, 2005...Is expected to be at full strength for the 2007 season.

2005

Despite getting off to a great start to the 2005 campaign, Mike struggled through an injury-plagued year that included five trips to the DL and missing a total of 118 team games. ... Hit a home run (#15 career) on 5/8 vs. HOU. His 15 career homers lead all active pitchers. ... Allowed just one run in six innings of work in his 2005 debut on 4/6 at FLA, but went without the decision in the Braves' 13-inning, 2-1 win. Mike had an infield single and two sacrifice bunts. ... Earned his first win of the season with a dominating game vs. WSH on 4/11. Went 8.0 innings and allowed just one run (solo homer by Jose Guillen) on seven hits and no walks. He also had two hits of his own - his 26th career multi-hit game. ... Pitched 8.0 shutout innings at PHI on 4/17, but did not earn a decision, as the Braves lost 2-1 in 10 innings. He allowed only three hits and two walks and only one runner reached second base (Michaels - double in 7th inning). Mike had a potential game-winning two-out double of his own in the eighth inning, but Johnny Estrada was thrown out at home plate to end the inning. ... Went 8.2 IP on 4/22 vs. PHI, allowing just two runs on seven hits in a 6-2 win. It was his longest outing since 5/18/04 when he went 9.0 innings and took the loss in Randy Johnson's perfect game in Atlanta. ... On 5/8 vs. HOU, he threw his first CG since 5/18/04 and his first shutout since 5/9/01. The two hits allowed mark the fewest in a complete game in Mike's career. ... Left his 5/14 start at LA in the third inning with a strained left forearm. Was placed on the 15-day DL on 5/21 (retroactive to 5/15). Prior to leaving the game, he pitched 2.1 scoreless. ... Returned from the DL on 5/31 at WSH and pitched 4.0 scoreless innings before leaving the game. Was officially placed back on the DL on 6/5 (retroactive to 6/1). ... Returned from the DL on 7/17 at NYM and lasted just 2.0 innings, allowing five runs on seven hits (1 HR) and throwing 58 pitches. The 8-1 loss was the 100th of his career and his season ERA jumped 68 points, from 1.83 to 2.51. ... Made his first start since 7/17, and only his second since 5/31, when he was activated from the DL on 8/14 after making two injury rehabilitation starts. Went five innings and allowed three runs (one in the first inning, two in the second) in a 13-8 Braves win. It was just the fourth time in his career that he pitched at least five innings and had no strikeouts (272 career 5+ inning games). ... Had an August setback due to a strained lower back. Missed his start at ARI on 7/23 and was placed on the DL on 7/27 (retroactive to 7/18). Was later found to have a herniated disk in his back. ... Had season-ending "Tommy John" surgery on 9/26 in New York. The 1-1/2 hour procedure was performed by Dr. Dave Altchek, who on 9/14 had confirmed the earlier diagnosis of the Braves medical staff - that the source of Hampton's forearm pain was coming from his elbow.

2004

Ranked among National League leaders in percent of ground balls induced (66.7%) and GDP/9 IP (1.03)...Finished the year on a strong note, going 12-2 in his last 16 starts...Went 4-1 with a 4.67 ERA in August and was 5-0, 2.62 in July...Mike allowed the third-most homers (15) on the team, but he allowed just five in his last 14 starts (86.1 IP)...Of his 86 runs allowed, 25 (29%) came in the first inning. Mike went 10-10 with a 3.59 ERA, two complete games and his first major league shutout...after the season, he underwent exploratory arthroscopic surgery; in the Sept. 30 procedure, Dr. Bill Bryan relieved an impingement condition in his shoulder.

The youngest player on Houston's roster (23), Hampton first full season in a major league rotation, finished 11th in the NL with a 3.35 ERA...the Astros placed him on the disabled list May 14 with a partial tear of the medial collateral ligament in his left elbow...soon after his June 13 activation, he won six straight decisions, June 28-Aug. 6...over the seven-start stretch, he compiled a 2.79 ERA (15 ER, 48.1 IP).

1994

The reliever made his NL debut Opening Day vs. Montreal...on April 29, he defeated St. Louis for his first NL win...from May 10-June 14, he allowed one ER in 13.2 IP (0.66); the streak lowered his season ERA from 6.23 to 2.82...Hampton stranded 19 of his 27 inherited runners (.704).

1993

Mike made Seattle's Opening Day roster and made his major league debut April 17 at Detroit...in 2.2 innings, he allowed four hits and four runs and sustained the loss...he registered his first major league win April 23 vs. the Yankees...optioned to Jacksonville (AA) of the Southern League May 11, Hampton returned to the majors June 28...he notched his first and only big-league save, July 15 at Fenway Park.

1992

Voted San Bernardino (A) team MVP, he led the California League with two shutouts...a league all-star, Hampton was tabbed by Baseball America the fifth-best prospect in the Seattle system.

1991

Hampton opened with San Bernardino (A), then moved to Bellingham (A) of the Northwest League, July 16...on May 31, he no-hit Visalia; he walked three and fanned five in a 6-0 win.

1990

The 17-year-old left-hander led the Arizona league with seven wins in his pro debut.
