Mike resides in Naples, Fla...Learned his cutter after seeing a social media post of a baseball that Mariano Rivera had marked for Roy Halladay to help him with his cutter grip...Attended the University of Mississippi from 2011-13, where he held a 12-9 record with a 3.43 ERA over three seasons...Played for the Bourne Braves in the Cape Cod League in 2012, where he was teammates with MLB veterans Chad Green, Colin Moran and Austin Wynns...While at Ole Miss, was teammates with MLB veterans Bobby Wahl (2011-12), Chris Ellis (2012) and Jacob Waguespack (2013)...Attended Grove City High School (Ohio), where he played baseball and basketball and was the quarterback on the football team.

2022

Mayers in 2022 made 24 appearances (three starts) with the Angels and went 1-1 with a 5.68 ERA (32 ER in 50.2 IP)…he was successful on the road, pitching to a 3.28 ERA (nine ER in 24.2 IP), but struggled mightily at Angel Stadium, where he pitched to a 7.96 ERA (23 ER in 26.0 IP)...In three starts, he went 0-1 with a 4.30 ERA (seven ER in 14.2 IP), including five scoreless innings with just two hits allowed on Aug. 24 at Tampa Bay and 5.2 innings of two-run ball on Sept. 6 vs. Detroit...As a reliever, he allowed five runs over his first two appearances (0.2 IP), but from April 17-May 14, he pitched to a 0.82 ERA (one ER in 11.0 IP) across 10 games...He was designated for assignment on May 26 and outrighted off the 40-man roster on June 2…Mayers returned to the Angels on Aug. 6, but posted a 5.82 ERA (22 ER in 34.0 IP) through the end of the year, which included a 6.98 ERA (15 ER in 19.1 IP) as a reliever...With Triple-A Salt Lake from June 3-Aug. 5, he made eight starts and struck out 34 batters in 33.0 innings.

Received an invitation to Major League Spring Training and and made three appearances (1-0, 4.15 ERA)...split injuryshortened season between Springfield (AA) and the Gulf Coast (R) Cardinals, going a combined 2-4 with a 5.87 ERA (53.2 IP) and 43 strikeouts in 12 starts while recovering from two disabled list stints with right elbow strain injuries...primarily pitched for Springfield in 10 starts, recording a 6.56 ERA (46.0 IP) and 36 strikeouts...seventeen of his 34 runs were given up in the first inning of starts (15.83 ERA)...threw first professional complete game shutout at Arkansas, (9/2) allowing four hits over 9.0 innings. ..made a pair of rehab starts with GCL Cardinals, going 1-0 with a 1.29 ERA (7.0 IP) and seven strikeouts.
